Abstract Motivation The BioTIME database contains raw data on species identities and abundances in ecological assemblages through time. These data enable users to calculate temporal trends in biodiversity within and amongst assemblages using a broad range of metrics. Warfarin for anticoagulation therapy is used by patients with specific cardiovascular diseases to control the ability of blood clotting. Traditional ways for self-management of the therapy are based on paper forms and procedures. This paper presents an algorithm developed for the smartphone application “Warfarin Guide”, which is a computer-assisted decision-support system used to help patients with self-management of their anticoagulation therapy related to International Normalized Ratio (INR) values. This article provides a brief overview of the relationship between disaster vulnerability and demographic variables. Population numbers and densities are examined along with using a gender focus as illustrative of individual characteristics. For the most part, people’s and society’s choices create vulnerabilities based on demographics rather than specific demographic characteristics inevitably conferring vulnerability.
Streamwater responses to reduced nitrogen deposition at four small upland catchments in Norway

AbstractReduced emissions of nitrogen (N) in Europe have resulted in decreasing atmospheric deposition since 1990. Long-term data (1988–2017) from four small Norwegian catchments located along gradients in N deposition, rainfall, and organic carbon (C) show different responses to 25–30% reductions in N deposition during the same period. At three sites the decreased N deposition caused reduced leaching of nitrate to surface water, whereas the westernmost site showed no decrease, probably due to thin soils with low C:N ratio, poor vegetation cover and high precipitation. I 2020 trådte det nye læreplanverket, Kunnskapsløftet 2020, i kraft i norsk skole. I artikkelen har vi valgt samfunnsfaget i ungdomsskolen som eksempelstudium. Vi presenterer en detaljert, empirinær analyse av forholdet mellom kompetansemål, kjerneelementer og tverrfaglige tema i læreplanstrukturen for skolefag, samt forholdet mellom disse og overordnet del. Eksempelet er avgrenset til samfunnsfaget på ungdomsskolen, og basert på det forskriftsfestede planverket og den digitale støttemodulen. Praktiske erfaringer er en viktig kilde til sakkunnskap i samfunnsfag på småskoletrinnet. 97 prosent av elevene har 2–5 års barnehageerfaring når de begynner på skolen, og innholdet i barnehagehverdagen har betydning for skolestarternes erfaringsrikdom. Styringsdokumentene legger premisser for barns tilgang til slike erfaringer, og artikkelens problemstilling er: I hvilken grad legger planverket til rette for faglig progre-sjon mellom nærmiljø og samfunn i barnehagen og samfunnsfag på småskoletrinnet?
