Miradas urbanas del profesorado iberoamericano desde la cultura visual

We are interested in knowing if there is a proper view of the teaching staff towards the urban reality. We start with verbal and visual descriptions, through images and texts. The research has been developed in Santiago de Chile, Valencia, Lima, Medellin, Montevideo and Buenos Aires, and combines direct participatory actions with personal interviews. The methodology follows a mixed method and is based on a case study that is complemented by research based on the arts. We concluded that there is a particular view of the teaching group towards their own city, which is full of critical reflection. This is a topic that has been little addressed and needs more attention.

The relationship between scientists and journalists is much better than its image. Scientists not only believe that public communication is a duty, but also that media visibility is beneficial for them. This study examines the media publicity of Pitkis-Sport, a children and youth sports camp, in Satakunnan Kansa, a regional newspaper. The representations of Pitkis-Sport in the paper during the camp’s 50 years of history from 1963 to 2013 will be explored by using qualitative content analysis. Furthermore, changes in the coverage between the decades will be highlighted. The study aims to find out more about how child and youth sports and physical activities are reported in Finnish regional newspapers. Etic and emic data production methods in the study of journalistic work practices : A systematic literature review

This methodological paper discusses the application of etic and emic perspectives in producing data sets for the study of journalistic praxis. The concepts refer to the researcher-analyst’s and the practitioner-informant’s viewpoints, respectively, and that being the case, they have inherent weaknesses if used independently. We argue that these shortcomings can be mitigated through an integrated application of the concepts and by seeing the two perspectives as complementary to each other.
