The aim of this study was to estimate the diagnostic agreement between assessments of orthodontic treatment need of a child population using the Dental Aesthetic Index (DAI) and the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN). A cross-sectional study of a representative random sample of children aged 12 ( n = 475) and 15–16 ( n = 398) years was carried out in the Valencia region of Spain. Objective— Angiotensin-II (Ang-II) promotes the interaction of mononuclear cells with arterioles and neutrophils with postcapillary venules. To investigate the mechanisms underlying this dissimilar response, the involvement of fractalkine (CX 3 CL1) was explored. Methods and Results— Enhanced CX 3 CL1 expression was detected in both cremasteric arterioles and postcapillary venules 24 hours after Ang-II intrascrotal injection. Arteriolar leukocyte adhesion was the unique parameter significantly reduced (83%) in animals lacking CX 3 CL1 receptor (CX 3 CR1). Liver failure caused by light chain deposition disease associated with multiple myeloma.

Acute liver failure is an unusual complication in multiple myeloma. Here, we report a case of multiple myeloma with light chain deposition disease (LCDD) that presented with progressive jaundice due to intrahepatic cholestasis. Diagnosis was made after liver biopsy that showed deposition of kappa light chains occupying perisinusoidal spaces. The patient developed encephalopathy and liver failure and died despite prompt initiation of dexamethasone therapy. The current prognosis of multiple myeloma patients with liver failure due to LCDD is dismal. New therapeutic strategies might improve this condition.

Objective: this study aimed to develop a nondecalcified bone sample processing technique enabling immunohistochemical labeling of proteins by kappa-beta nuclear factor (NF-kB) utilizing the Technovit 7200 VCR® in adult male Wistar rats. Study Method: A 1.8 mm diameter defect was performed 0.5mm from the femur proximal joint by means of a round bur. Experimental groups were divided according to fixing solution prior to histologic processing: Group 1- ethanol 70%; Group 2-10% buffered formalin; and Group 3- Glycerol diluted in 70% ethanol at a 70/30 ratio + 10% buffered formalin. Background A new food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) has been recently developed within the Italian Adolescents and Surveillance System for the Obesity prevention (ASSO) Project; it was found to be appropriate for ranking adolescents in food and nutrient levels of intake. The aim of this study was to assess the relative and absolute reproducibility of the ASSO-FFQ for 24 food groups, energy and 52 nutrients.
