Identification of bound alcohols in soil humic acids by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry
2000
International audience; Humic acids are complex, partly macromolecular, yellow-brownish substances occurring in soils, waters and sediments. In order to shed some light on their molecular structure, crop humic acids were cleaved by alkaline hydrolysis (KOH). The products were fractionated by thin layer chromatography to give mono-alcohols which were analysed as acetate derivatives by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry. Linear alcohols, sterols, stanols and plant-derived triterpenoid alcohols were identified by co-injection of pure standards and by comparison with literature data. These findings imply that alcohols could have been incorporated into the humic matrix by esterifica…
Geochemical and Petrographic Characterization of Marine-Continental Transitional Facies Shale (Qilian Basin, China): Origin of Organic Matter Input, …
2021
This study, for the first time, investigates the source, keroger pattern, evolution degree, sedimentary environment, and evaluates the hydrocarbon generating ability of marine-continental transitional facies shale from the Ebao area of the Qilian Basin in western China. The organic-rich shales of the marine-continental transitional facies were subjected to total organic carbon (TOC), rock pyrolysis, the biomarkers and kerogen microscopy analyses. The kerogen microscopy analyses indicated that the sample from ZK001 well and ZK2002 well had a mass of vitrinite and small number of exinite, so kerogen type was mainly humic. According to vitrinite reflectance, the organic matter was in the stage…
Some sedimentological and geochemical characters of the late Triassic Noto formation, source rock in the Ragusa basin (Sicily)
1990
URA 724 du CNRS a intégré UMR 6113 - ISTO CNRS Université d'Orléans; In the Ragusa basin (southeastern Sicily), the late Triassic Noto formation is considered as the main oil source rock. We provide a detailed description of the sedimentary facies determined from core samples, and discuss geochemical results, obtained for both kerogens and chloroform extractable hydrocarbons from samples where sedimentary organic matter is immature. Two main sedimentary sequences were encountered: (i) layers of limestones and of marls (or shales) alternating at a metric scale, and (ii) laminites having various types and carbonate contents. The high petroleum potentials (S2 up to 100 kg HC/t rock) are relate…
