Luku- ja laskusujuvuuden vaikeuksien yhteisesiintyvyys ja pysyvyys alakouluikäisillä oppilailla

Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena on selvittää luku- ja laskusujuvuuden vaikeuksien päällekkäistymisen eli komorbiditeetin esiintyvyyttä ja toisaalta sen pysyvyyttä alakouluikäisillä oppilailla. Käyttämämme aineisto on osa Minäpystyvyys ja oppimisvaikeusinterventiot (SELDI) -hanketta, johon osallistui 1385 2.–5. luokan oppilasta keski- ja itäsuomalaisista kunnista. Luku- ja laskusujuvuuden mittareina käytettiin aikarajallisia testejä, jotka toteutettiin ryhmätestauksena. Esiintyvyyttä ja pysyvyyttä analysoitiin tilastollisin menetelmin käyttämällä 7. ja 16. persentiilin katkaisurajoja. Pysyvyyttä tarkasteltiin vuoden seurantajakson aikana. We investigated child, family, and environmental factors associated with young children’s perceptions of locomotor (LM) and object control (OC) skills. The participants comprised 472 children (6.22 ± 0.63) and their parents. Students’ health-related quality of life (HRQoL) may depend on the extent to which the school environment fostered by their teacher is perceived as autonomy-supportive. We tested a conditional process model in a physical education context in which students’ perception of their teachers’ autonomy-supportive behaviour moderated the relationship between perceived controlling behaviour and HRQoL via need frustration. In this research I focused on reading skill development in school-age children with family history of dyslexia. I was interested in the effects of children’s cognitive skills (language, phonological awareness, rapid serial naming, verbal short term memory, and letter knowledge), and gender in addition to family risk for dyslexia as predictors of children’s reading development. Early Cognitive Profiles Predicting Reading and Arithmetic Skills in Grades 1 and 7

The aim of this study was to investigate cognitive profiles composed of skills predicting the overlap between reading and arithmetic in kindergarten (phonological awareness, letter knowledge, rapid automatized naming, and counting sequence knowledge) and the relation of these profiles to reading and arithmetic skills at Grades 1 and 7. A total of four distinct cognitive profiles were identified in an unselected sample of 1,710 children aged 5–6 years: (1) high linguistic and high counting skills (39.2%), (2) low linguistic and low counting skills (25.4%), (3) high counting skills in relation to linguistic skills (15.3%), and (4) low counting skills in relation to linguistic skills (20.1%). …

Mari Aro perehtyi väitöskirjassaan 7-12-vuotiaiden suomalaislasten kielenoppimiskäsityksiin. Aro havaitsi, että heidän käsityksiinsä englannin kielen oppimisesta ja käyttämisestä vaikutti vahvasti kaksi kulttuurista totuutta: ajatus siitä, että englantia tarvitaan ulkomaalaisten kanssa puhumiseen, ja siitä, että englantia opitaan kirjoista lukemalla.Lapset puhuivat erilaisista englannin kielistä: oli kouluenglanti, joka johtaa oikeaan, ulkomailla käytettävään englantiin, ja harraste-englanti, joka liittyi vapaa-aikaan, mutta ei sen paremmin englannin oppimiseen kuin sen käyttämiseenkään.Kaikkihan tiedämme että ”englantia tulee oppia, jotta osaisi puhua maailmalla”.
