Objective This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of brief training in the guideline-oriented biopsychosocial management of low-back pain (LBP) in occupational health services using a cluster-randomized design. A small sample of physiotherapists and physicians from the intervention units (N=12) were given three- to seven-day training focusing on the biopsychosocial management of LBP, while professionals in the control units (N=15) received no such training. Anaplasma phagocytophilum (AP) has vast geographical and host ranges and causes disease in humans and domesticated animals. We investigated the role of northward migratory birds in the dispersal of tick-borne AP in the African-Western Palearctic. Ticks were collected from northward migratory birds trapped during spring migration of 2010 at two localities in the central Mediterranean Sea. AP DNA was detected by PCR (gltA and 16S rRNA) and variant determination was performed using ankA sequences. In total, 358 ticks were collected. Bakalaura darba ietvaros tika veikti elektroķīmiskie mērījumi bismuta slelenīda plānajām kārtiņām, izmantojot ciklisko voltamperometriju (CV) un elektroķīmisko impedances spektroskopiju (EIS), kā arī plāno kārtiņu raksturojums, izmantojot skenējošo elektronu mikroskopiju (SEM) un enerģijas dispersīvo rentgenstaru spektroskopiju (EDX). Iegūtie rezultāti statistiski apstrādāti, salīdzināti ar literatūru un izdarīti secinājumi par bismuta selenīdu veikstpēju nātrija nitrāta ūdens elektrolītā. Pētījuma rezultāti norāda uz Bi2Se3 plāno kārtiņu perspektīvu pielietojumu kā anoda elektrodu nātrija jonu baterijās ar ūdens elektrolītu (ASIB).

1055-7903; The goal of the current study was to determine if cuticular hydrocarbons could be used to empirically delimit taxa within the Cryptocercus punctulatus species complex in the eastern United States. Cockroaches were collected from rotting logs in 22 locations across four states. Hydrocarbon phenotypes and two mitochondrial (16S and COII) genes and one nuclear (ITS2) gene were independently analyzed to determine their relationship with chromosome number. AbstractThe natural correspondence between prefix codes and trees is explored, generalizing the results obtained in Giammarresi et al. (Theoret. Comput. Sci. 205 (1998) 1459) for the lattice of finite trees under division and the lattice of finite maximal prefix codes. Joins and meets of prefix codes are studied in this light in connection with such concepts as finiteness, maximality and varieties of rational languages. Decidability results are obtained for several problems involving rational prefix codes, including the solution to the primeness problem.

Abstract In this paper we focus on the decomposition of rational and maximal prefix codes. We present an effective procedure that allows us to decide whether such a code is decomposable. In this case, the procedure also produces the factors of some of its decompositions. We also give partial results on the problem of deciding whether a rational maximal prefix code decomposes over a finite prefix code.

Aims: To assess if individuals with diabetes or prediabetes report more pain or have increased use of pain medication compared to normoglycaemic individuals. Methods: Using cross-sectional data, we studied 928 men and 1075 women from the Helsinki Birth Cohort Study in 2001-2004 at a mean age of 61.5 years. Glucose regulation was assessed with a 2-h 75 g oral glucose tolerance test, and applying World Health Organization criteria, participants were defined as having normoglycaemia, prediabetes (impaired fasting glucose or impaired glucose tolerance), newly diagnosed diabetes or previously diagnosed diabetes.
