Satellite sensors operating in the low frequency microwave spectrum (from 1 to 10 GHz) have proven to be suitable for soil moisture retrievals. Priekš pielietojuma telekomunikācijās pie ierosinošā lāzera viļņa garuma 1550 nm frekvenču intervālam starp modām vajag būt ap 100 GHz.
