However, the degree to which sociodemographic variables and level of engagement in hobbies contribute to this relationship is largely unknown. The aim of the study was to compare quality of life (QOL) of older adult choir singers with a matched sample of older adults from the general population in Finland, taking into consideration sociodemographic variables, satisfaction with health, and level of engagement in hobbies. Tämän laadullisen tapaustutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää millaista ja missä määrin yhteisöllisyyttä koettiin Jyväskylän Musica-kuorossa tutkimuksen tekemisen hetkellä (keväällä 2009). Musica-kuoro on sekakuoro, joka koostuu pääosin opiskelijoista ja jota johtaa Pekka Kostiainen. Tutkimuksen keskeisiksi käsitteiksi muodostuivat yhteisöllisyys, sosiaalinen pääoma sekä hyvinvointi. Sosiaalisen pääoman teoriasta tukeuduin Putnamin (1993) teoriaan, jossa luottamus, sosiaalinen verkosto ja vastavuoroisuuden normit nousevat etusijalle. "Ei se ole vaan laulua" : kuorolaisten kokemuksia Jyväskylän musiikkiluokkien A-kuoron ja Vox Aurean vaikutuksista

Tutkimukseni tehtävänä on selvittää, miten Jyväskylän musiikkiluokkien A-kuorossa (sittemmin Vox Aurea) laulaneet ihmiset kokevat kuoron vaikuttaneen elämäänsä. Haastattelin tutkimukseeni viittä erilaisesta musiikillisesta taustasta tulevaa aikuista, jotka ovat laulaneet kuorossa sen alkuvuosina, sekä kuutta nuorta, jotka lauloivat kuorossa haastatteluhetkellä. Kahden eri sukupolven haastatteleminen mahdollistaa vertailun sen suhteen, ovatko kuorolaulun tärkeät ja vaikuttavat asiat huomattavasti muuttuneet kuoron alkuajoista nykypäivään.
