Experiencing Commercial Videos for Online Shopping

In recent years online shopping has become a popular and convenient instrument for companies to buy and sell products. However, the design of these web-shops does not offer the rich multisensory experiences than physical retailing offers. In the paper we argue that audio-visual contents could provide dynamic multisensory information to offer more engaging experiences to the consumer, but to achieve this goal, audio-visual contents need to be adjusted to the cultural characteristics of the users. Ulla Huhtamäki tarkastelee tutkimuksessaan taidemaalari Kauko Lehtisen (s.1925) taiteen murrosta vuosina 1961-1965. Lehtinen lähti Pariisiin kevättalvella 1961 etsimään uusia vaikutteita muuttaakseen omaa työskentelytapaansa, joka oli alkanut tuntua ”nyppimiseltä”. The Effect of Memory in Inducing Pleasant Emotions with Musical and Pictorial Stimuli

Music is known to evoke emotions through a range of mechanisms, but empirical investigation into the mechanisms underlying different emotions is sparse. This study investigated how affective experiences to music and pictures vary when induced by personal memories or mere stimulus features. Prior to the experiment, participants were asked to select eight types of stimuli according to distinct criteria concerning the emotion induction mechanism and valence. In the experiment, participants (N = 30) evaluated their affective experiences with the self-chosen material. EEG was recorded throughout the session. Religious and spiritual motifs in the art of the patients of Nikkilä Hospital

This article focuses on religiousness and spirituality in the art works of psychiatric patients of Nikkilä Hospital, Finland. The pictures analysed here belong to a collection held at the Helsinki City Museum and they were made during the twentieth century. The theoretical frame of the study is a cultural study of mental health. The collection is approached as presenting a specific kind of imagery which has connections not only to the personal history and diagnoses of the patients; their cultural context and hospital environment is also taken into account. Diffusion of Drone Journalism: the Case of Finland, 2011-2020

This article details Finnish news organizations’ adoption of drones for journalistic purposes from 2011 to 2020. The theoretical starting point of the article is Rogers’ (1962) diffusion of innovations theory, which explains how new ideas and technologies spread in societies. The main empirical data for the study were derived from a phone survey conducted among the 80 most popular newspapers in Finland. The findings reveal that drone journalism in Finland has already diffused from a few pioneering organizations to a large number of newsrooms, including regional, mid-sized newspapers. Analysoin tutkimuksessani Alison Bechdelin omaelämäkerrallista sarjakuvaromaania Fun Home. A Family Tragicomic (2006). Fun Home on omaelämäkerran lisäksi elämäkerta Alisonin isästä, Bruce Bechdelistä. Bruce tekee itsemurhan Alisonin ollessa noin kaksikymmentävuotias ja jättää jälkeensä joukon vastauksettomia kysymyksiä – Fun Homessa Alison pohtii näitä kysymyksiä ja vertailee Brucen elämäntarinaa omaansa. Alison identifioituu lesboksi ja epäilee myös Brucen olleen homoseksuaali.
