Tutkimukseni aiheena on selvittää kuntaliitoskeskusteluun kuuluvien käsitteiden vaikutusta kuntaliitosten toteuttamiseen ja kuinka käsitteet ovat vaikuttaneet poliittiseen diskurssiin ja toimintaan kuntaliitoksissa viimeisen noin 40 vuoden aikana virallisten tahojen ja tekstien kautta. Tutkimuksessa kuntaliitoskeskustelua tarkastellaan 1960-luvulta 2000-luvulle. Varsinainen analyysi jakautuu kolmeen päälukuun. Ensimmäinen käsittää ajanjakson 1960- ja 1970-luvut, toinen 1980-luvun ja osan 1990-luvusta. AbstractThis study contends that phenomenography offers both a useful research method and practical tools for developing education and training for career practitioners. After introducing the basic principles of phenomenography, the study reviews previous research on its potential in developing pedagogical practices. Tutkimus tarkastelee eduskunnan debatissa viidennestä ydinvoimalasta käytyjä retorisia kamppailuja eri avainkäsitteiden sisällöistä ja merkityksistä. Näitä avainkäsitteitä ovat tulevaisuuteen, tietoon sekä ympäristöön liittyvät käsitekonstellaatiot. Young Adults’ Conceptions of the Sacred in Finland Today

This study examined young adults’ perspectives on the concept of the sacred. Altogether, 334 young Finnish adults aged 19–35 were studied through a self-report questionnaire. The participants’ personal conceptions, reflections and experiences of the sacred were assessed with open-ended questions. Answers were classified in a data-determined content analysis using a thematic analytical approach. In addition, the study examined how these understandings of the sacred were related to subjective religiosity and how the definitions vary across gender. Concepts are the building blocks of higher-order cognition and consciousness. Building on Conceptual Spaces Theory (CST) and proceeding from the assumption that concepts are inherently dynamic, this paper provides historical context to and significantly elaborates the previously offered Iterative Subdivision Model (ISDM) with the goal of pushing it toward empirical testability. Post-Classical Islamic Philosophy – a Contradiction in Terms?

This paper engages critically with Dimitri Gutas’ recent characterization of post-classical Islamic philosophy and theology as a form of paraphilosophy or intellectual activity that merely simulates philosophy. I argue that this view arises from a misguided understanding of the concept of philosophy that should provide the standard for its historiography.
