Diacetylene Linked Anthracene Oligomers Synthesized by One-Shot Homocoupling of Trimethylsilyl on Cu(111)
2018
On-surface chemical reaction has become a very powerful technique to conjugate small precursor molecules and several reactions have been proposed with the aim to fabricate functional nanostructures on surfaces. Here we present an unforeseen adsorption mode of 9,10-bis-((trimethylsilyl)ethynyl)anthracene on a Cu(111)surface and the resulting one-shot desilylative homocoupling of of the adsorbate by annealing at 400 K. With a combination of high-resolution atomic force microscopy and density functional theory calculations, we found that the triple bonds and silicon atoms of the monomer chemically interact with the copper surface. After the oligomerization, we discovered that the anthracene un…
Measurement of the transition dipole moment of silane 28SiH4 by diode laser spectroscopy
1992
Abstract A tunable diode laser IR spectrometer which is being used in various molecular spectroscopy experiments is described. Absorption spectra observed in the ( ν 1 , ν 3 ) dyad of silane 28 SiH 4 yield estimates of two parameters of the dipole moment operator responsible for absorbance in this region.
WS2 2D Semiconductor Down to Monolayers by Pulsed-Laser Deposition for Large-Scale Integration in Electronics and Spintronics Circuits
2020
International audience; We report on the achievement of a large-scale tungsten disulfide (WS2) 2D semiconducting platform derived by pulsed-laser deposition (PLD) on both insulating substrates (SrTiO3), as required for in-plane semiconductor circuit definition, and ferromagnetic spin sources (Ni), as required for spintronics applications. We show thickness and phase control, with highly homogeneous wafer-scale monolayers observed under certain conditions, as demonstrated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy mappings. Interestingly, growth appears to be dependent on the substrate selection, with a dramatically increased growth rate on Ni substrates. We show that this 2D…

Laser Ultrasonic Testing for Estimation of Adhesion of Al2O3Plasma Sprayed Coatings
2001
Abstract The aim of the present study was to investigate the possibility of using a laser ultrasonic technique for the estimation of the adhesion of ceramic coatings, deposited onto metallic substrates by thermal spraying techniques. For this purpose, a pulsed Nd : YAG laser (λ = 1064 nm, 14 ns) was used to irradiate Al2O3 coatings, of different thickness (30–350 µm), deposited onto stainless steel substrates by atmospheric plasma spraying. The laser generated ultrasonic waves were in situ recorded at the epicentre using a laser heterodyne interferometer. The acoustic waveforms were correlated with the interaction between the pulsed laser radiation and the coated metal, taking into account …
Continuous wave dual-wavelength operation at 1048 and 1386 nm in Nd3+:LaBGeO<inf>5</inf> for yellow laser light ge…
2007
We present results on simultaneous oscillation in continuous-wave at 1048 and 1386 nm in Nd3+:LaBGeO5 crystal. LaBGeO5 is a nonlinear positive uniaxial crystal with potential application for intracavity generation of yellow laser radiation at 597 nm. Due to the different cross section in both laser channels, simultaneous oscillation is achieved by axial hole burning in a standing wave (linear cavity). It is concluded that a stable output laser spectrum is obtained for an absorbed pump power of 700 mW. A laser competition with alternating single-channel and dual-channel oscillation at different pump regimes was observed in the experiments.
Vertical misfit of laser-sintered and vacuum-cast implant-supported crown copings luted with definitive and temporary luting agents
2012
Objectives. This study aimed to evaluate the vertical discrepancy of implant-supported crown structures constructed with vacuum-casting and Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) technologies, and luted with different cement types. Study Design. Crown copings were fabricated using: (1) direct metal laser sintered Co-Cr (LS); (2) vacuum-cast Co-Cr (CC); and (3) vacuum-cast Ti (CT). Frameworks were luted onto machined implant abutments under constant seating pressure. Each alloy group was randomly divided into 5 subgroups (n = 10 each) according to the cement system utilized: Subgroup 1 (KC) used resin-modified glass-ionomer Ketac Cem Plus; Subgroup 2 (PF) used Panavia F 2.0 dual-cure resin ceme…
Photoplethysmography Device for Detection of Changes in the Vasomotor Parameters of Small Laboratory Animals
2008
A device for observation of changes in vasomotor parameters of small laboratory animals with limited blood amount has been developed. The device contains cw laser sources (635 nm, 650nm or 980 nm), photodetector, amplifier of the absorption photoplethysmography signal and special software for data recording.
Electropolishing of CuZn brasses and 316L stainless steels: Influence of alloy composition or preparation process (ALM vs. standard method)
2016
International audience; In the present paper, electropolishing behavior of different brass alloys (CuZn39Pb2, CuZn42) in phosphoric acid is studied to observe the impact of alloying elements on polishing quality. In the same way, the influence of the manufacturing process is also evaluated through the comparison of a “standard” stainless steel and a stainless steel prepared by Additive Laser Manufacturing (ALM). An electrochemical study was first performed to determine the best treatment conditions for each material/electrolyte pair and to study the electropolishing mechanism and its kinetic dependence on diffusion. Metallic samples are fully characterized before and after electropolishing …
Electromagnetically Induced Transparency and optical pumping processes formed in Cs sub-micron thin cell
2012
Abstract The Electromagnetically Induced Transparency (EIT) effect in a Λ -system formed by Cs atoms (6 S 1/2 − 6 P 3/2 − 6 S 1/2 ) confined in an extremely thin cell (ETC) (atomic column thickness L varies in the range of 800 nm –3 µm is studied both experimentally and theoretically. It is demonstrated that when the coupling laser frequency is in exact resonance with the corresponding atomic transition, the EIT resonance parameters weakly depend on L , which allows us to detect the effect at L = λ = 852 nm. EIT process reveals a striking peculiarity in case of the coupling laser detuned by Δ from the atomic transition, namely the width of the EIT resonance rapidly increases upon an in…
