Influence of the composition of titanium oxynitride layers on the fretting behavior of functionalized titanium substrates: PVD films versus surface l…
2014
International audience; Abstract In this work we compared the fretting behavior of pure titanium plates functionalized with titanium oxynitride surface layers, obtained by two methods: a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) method, reactive magnetron sputtering, and Surface Laser Treatments (SLT), under different mixtures of oxygen and nitrogen. The composition of the layers was determined by nuclear reaction analysis (NRA) and their structure was analyzed by Raman spectroscopy. PVD layers were TiN-like fcc layers, with an oxygen concentration going from 36 to 50 at.%. Three SLT layers were studied. The first one was a TiN-like layer containing ~28 at.% of oxygen. The second one was formed of di…
Azodyed gelatin films for holographic recording
2013
Abstract In this work we present a preparation method of azo-dyed gelatin thin films for holographic recording and their photoinduced changes of optical properties. The non-toxic, commercially available and cheap ingredients were used for film preparation. The films were prepared by mixing azo-dyes with gelatin solution. The photoinduced properties of prepared films were investigated. The photoinduced dichroism and birefringence at 532 nm laser radiation were observed. The holographic recording of surface and volume gratings by 532 nm wavelength laser radiation were performed and surface relief gratings were studied with AFM. The mass transport direction in azodyed gelatin was studied.
Holographic recording in amorphous chalcogenide thin films
2007
Abstract Holographic recording by He–Ne laser (line 632.8 nm) light in amorphous As 0.55 Se 0.45 thin films for different film thickness and grating period was studied. A strong dependence of the diffraction efficiency of the gratings on the readout light wavelength (650 nm, 805 nm and 1150 nm) was observed. A decrease in diffraction efficiency for longer wavelengths is explained by a decrease in the photoinduced changes of refractive index. It is shown that high efficiency gratings can be recorded in As 0.55 Se 0.45 films with a thickness of ∼1 μm.
Surface relief grating recording in azo polymer films
2013
In this work holographic recording of surface relief grating in organic Poly(Disperse Red 1 – methacrylate) thin films was studied. In this compound azo dye is chemically bonded to monomers making mass transport very efficient in the presence of optical field gradient. Sample preparation was performed using different solvents and coating methods. In the obtained samples holographic recording was performed by solid-state diode pump laser with 532 nm wavelength. Polarization grating and surface relief grating formation was studied by diode laser with 660 nm wavelength. Diffraction efficiency's dependence on read-out laser beam polarization state was investigated. The depth of surface relief g…
Evaluation of the Diode laser (810nm,980nm) on dentin tubule diameter following internal bleaching
2015
Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of diode laser irradiation and bleaching materials on the dentinal tubule diameter after laser bleaching. Material and Methods: The dentin discs of 40 extracted third molar were used in this experiment. Each disc surface was divided into two halves by grooving. Half of samples were laser bleached at different wavelengths with two different concentrations of hydrogen peroxide. Other half of each disc with no laser bleaching remained as a negative control. Dentin discs were assigned randomly into four groups (n=10) with following hydrogen peroxide and diode laser wavelength specifications; Group 1 (30% - 810 nm), group 2 (30% - 980 …
Optical-field induced volume- and surface-relief formation phenomenon in thin films of vitreous chalcogenide semiconductors
2013
In this report the study of direct recording of the surface relief gratings on amorphous chalcogenide thin (2.5-5μm) films is presented by three different recording setups. Recording was performed on As2S3 by 532nm wavelength laser light. Additionally the evolution of surface relief in dependence from the recording time and polarization has been investigated in detail. The mechanism of the direct recording of surface relief on amorphous chalcogenide films based on the photo-induced plasticity has been discussed.
Novel laser technologies for human skin in-vivo assessment
2007
Two experimental methodologies for human skin optical non-invasive in-vivo assessment have been developed and clinically tested - imaging of the laser-excited autofluorescence fading rate, and simultaneous recording of the reflectance photoplethysmography signals at several laser wavelengths with different skin penetration depths. Details of both equipments are described along with some measurement results illustrating feasibility of the novel technologies.
Quantitative Optical Trapping of Single Gold Nanorods
2008
We report a quantitative analysis of the forces acting on optically trapped single gold nanorods. Individual nanorods with diameters between 8 and 44 nm and aspect ratios between 1.7 and 5.6 were stably trapped in three dimensions using a laser wavelength exceeding their plasmon resonance wavelengths. The interaction between the electromagnetic field of an optical trap and a single gold nanorod correlated with particle polarizability, which is a function of both particle volume and aspect ratio.
UV-induced Degradation Study of Multicrystalline Silicon Solar Cells Made from Different Silicon Materials
2013
Abstract The effect of ultraviolet-induced degradation (UV-ID) on solar cells made from two different solar grade materials has been compared. By using identical wafer and cell production units, effects originating in the two materials; solar grade produced by the Elkem Solar method (ESS™) was compared to standard polysilicon solar cells. Silicon wafers were selected precisely from similar positions from respective silicon bricks to process identical standard solar cells. The quantum efficiency maps at particular laser wavelengths and IV parameters of all solar cells were measured before and after UV-ID to visualize defects sites in the solar cells and to observe the extent of degradation. …
Photo-assisted O− and Al− production with a cesium sputter ion source
2021
It has been recently proposed that the production of negative ions with cesium sputter ion sources could be enhanced by laser-assisted resonant ion pair production. We have tested this hypothesis by measuring the effect of pulsed diode lasers at various wavelengths on the O− and Al− beam current produced from Al2O3 cathode of a cesium sputter ion source. The experimental results provide evidence for the existence of a wavelength-dependent photo-assisted enhancement of negative ion currents but cast doubt on its alleged resonant nature as the effect is observed for both O− and Al− ions at laser energies above a certain threshold. The beam current transients observed during the laser pulses s…
