Moving multi-loads problem in layered cracked beams with interlayer slip

2017

This contribution concerns the vibration response of layered cracked uniform beams with interlayer slip under moving multiple loads. Considering a linear constitutive relation between the horizontal slip and the interlaminar shear force, the Euler-Bernoulli hypothesis is assumed to hold for each layer separately. Modeling cracks as internal elastic rotational joints, related discontinuities of the response variables are treated by the theory of generalized functions. In this manner, exact eigenfunctions are derived from a characteristic equation built as determinant of 6x6 matrix, for any number of cracks. Building pertinent orthogonality conditions for the deflection eigenfunctions, the re…

A Golgi study of the short-axon interneurons of the cell layer and inner plexiform layer of the medial cortex of the lizardPodarcis hispanica

1997

The medial cortex of lizards is a three-layered brain region displaying cyto- and chemoarchitectonical, connectional, and ontogenetic characteristics that relate it to the hippocampal fascia dentata of mammals. Three interneuron types located in the cell layer and ten others in the inner plexiform layer (six in the juxtasomatic zone and four in the deep zone) are described in this study. The granuloid neurons, web-axon neurons, and deep-fusiform neurons lay within the cell layer. These neurons were scarce; they were probably gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-, and parvalbumin-immunoreactive and presumably participated in feed forward as well as in feed back inhibition of the principal projecti…

Characterization of impervious layers using scale models and an inverse method

2009

We describe a novel procedure that uses an inverse method to determine unknown parameters for impervious layers used in multilayer structures. The proposed model of the multilayer structure is limited to an ideal double plate separated by an unbonded, fibrous, sound-absorbing material. Experimental data were obtained by nearfield acoustic holography for the calculation of the transmission loss of various multilayer structures mounted in a window in a wooden box designed specifically for this purpose. We used the Trochidis and Kalaroutis forecast model of acoustic insulation for multilayer structures, which is based on a spatial Fourier transform. The experimental pressure and velocity data …

Removing Leakage and Surface Recombination in Planar Perovskite Solar Cells

2019

Thin-film solar cells suffer from various types of recombination, of which leakage current usually dominates at lower voltages. Herein, we demonstrate first a three-order reduction of the shunt loss mechanism in planar methylammonium lead iodide perovskite solar cells by replacing the commonly used hole transport layer poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) with a better hole-selective polyarylamine. As a result, these cells exhibit superior operation under reduced light conditions, which we demonstrate for the extreme case of moonlight irradiance, at which open-circuit voltages of 530 mV can still be obtained. By the shunt removal we also observe the VOC to dro…

Space charge effect on competitive ion transport through ion-exchange membranes

2002

A mathematical model of the competitive electro-transport of two counter-ions through an ion exchange membrane based on the Nernst-Planck and Poisson equations is developed. A three-layer system is considered: the membrane and two adjacent diffusion layers. Concentration profiles in the three layers, effective transport numbers as functions of the current and current-voltage characteristics are calculated. Deviation from the local electroneutrality in space charge region near the depleted solution/membrane interface is taken into account. It is shown that the space charge region grows with the voltage applied. However the fluxes of the competitive counter-ions at over-limiting currents are …

Intercalation of [M(ox)3]3− (M=Cr, Rh) complexes into NiIIFeIII-LDH

2010

Abstract Layered Double Hydroxides (LDH) containing paramagnetic NiII and FeIII ions in the hydroxide layers and chromium or rhodium oxalate complexes at the interlayer space were prepared by ion exchange from a NiFe-LDH precursor with sebacate anions between the hydroxide layers. The precursor was synthesized by coprecipitation at controlled pH in order to avoid the formation of solid phases different from LDH. Magnetic studies demonstrated that both LDHs, NiFe–Cr(ox)3 and NiFe–Rh(ox)3, exhibited a behaviour similar to the precursor. Nevertheless, the substitution of intercalated sebacate anions with oxalate complexes compresses the LDH basal spacing, increasing the intensity of dipolar in…

Double layer potential and degree of dissociation in charged lipid monolayers

2000

Abstract One of the contributions to the surface potential in charged phospholipid monolayers at air–water interfaces is the double layer potential. In this note several misconceptions found in the literature concerning the relationship between the double layer potential and the degree of dissociation of the lipid polar headgroups are critically analyzed. The deviations of the double layer potential measurements from the Gouy–Chapman theory observed by several authors are explained by taking into account the dependence of the degree of dissociation with concentration, area per lipid molecule and pH.

Synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles with an iron oxide magnetic core and a biologically active trialkylsilylated aliphatic alkanolamine s…

2007

Water-soluble double-coated magnetic nanoparticles (NPs) containing cytotoxic decyldimethyl(β-dimethylaminoethoxy)silane methiodide (AA) molecule sorbed at biocompatible magnetic particles, which consist of magnetite pre-coated with oleic acid (OA), have been prepared. X-ray line profile broadening analysis was used for crystallite size determination. The method of magnetogranulometry has been used for determination of diameter of iron oxide magnetic core and magnetic properties of NPs prepared. In vitro cytotoxicity on monolayer tumor cell lines HT-1080 (human fibrosarcoma), MG-22A (mouse hepatoma) and normal mouse fibroblasts (NIH 3T3) has been studied. It was revealed that all the water-…

Efficacy of the NaviTip FX irrigation needle in removing calcium hydroxide from root canal

2012

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the NaviTip FX, brush-covered irrigation needle, in removing calcium hydroxide from the root canal. Study Design: Thirty single-rooted teeth were randomly divided into three groups: A - irrigation with a hypodermic needle inserted as far as possible without binding and activation with #30 K-type file; B - Irrigation with a hypodermic needle without activation; C - irrigation with NaviTip FX needle. Sodium hypoclorite 1% was used in irrigation. The root canals were examined trough scanning electron microscopy. Calcium hydroxide removal was recorded at 1, 5, and 10mm from the working length (WL) and the data were analysed using one-way ANOVA test (p…

OpenLayers izmantošana Android ĢIS lietotnē

2015
