Standard testing of photovoltaic modules for use in renewable energy education

A photovoltaic laboratory exercise has been devised and used in the educational curriculum of the Renewable Energy Programme at the University of Jyväskylä. The purpose of the experimental tasks is to give students of renewable energy a good understanding of standard testing procedures used in industry for characterising photovoltaic modules and to provide practical skills in sizing simple photovoltaic installations. Herein the experimental set-up, basic theory and measurement procedure are described. Workshop: iPads in Upper Secondary School Chemistry Education

At the workshop arranged at the National Days of Chemical Education the participants had an opportunity to try out various Ipad apps and methods for utilizing them in chemistry education. The themes were based on the apps used during chemistry teacher education course arranged by the department of chemistry and methods developed on the teacher training school at the University of Jyväskylä. The apps used included Socrative Student, Google Drive, Graphical Analysis, ChemDoodle ja QR-reader. Our proposal is developed along art history, the students will acquire skills related with proportionality through the uses the artists have done throughout history. Informal language in English L2 writing: What are pupils taught from textbooks?

AbstractStudies show that intermediate and advanced learners of English overuse informal features in their academic writing, and researchers recommend that instructional material is developed to raise learners’ awareness of this overuse. In Norway, little research has been done on younger learners’ writing, and no previous study exists of how instructional material such as textbooks deal with informality. The present article investigates how all English textbooks published for lower secondary school under the current curriculum deal with informality in writing. Se presenta un estudio exploratorio y descriptivo sobre los hábitos lectores en inglés de estudiantes universitarios españoles para detectar cuáles son las áreas de atención prioritaria para poder seguir un Grado en inglés según el EEES. Se midió el nivel de inglés mediante el Oxford Online Placement Test. Se evaluaron los hábitos lectores y el tipo de materiales académicos que los estudiantes leen en inglés mediante un cuestionario. Gran parte de la muestra se encontraba en los niveles elementales e intermedios de dominio del inglés. The aim of this study is to shed light on the varieties of workers´ agencies in working life change situations, which is an under-researched topic in the literature of workplace learning and in working life studies. The research questions are what kinds of agencies there are to be found when workers encounter changes and how the different kinds of agencies are connected together.
