Resum: En aquest article es presenta l’autobiografia espiritual en català Rahó de l’esperit (1709-1714) de la mística d’Olot Teresa Mir i March (1681-1764) i la Relació introductòria del seu pare espiritual, Esteve Gay, conservades en un testimoni únic, el manuscrit número 6 de la Biblioteca de Reserva de la Universitat de Barcelona. Se’n detalla l’estat de la qu?estió, la descripció i estructura del còdex, així com una anàlisi sumària dels diferents elements que el componen. The history of Sicily, the largest island of the Mediterranean, is notably distinct from the history of the rest of Italy. It is because of this distinctiveness that Sicily can serve as a paradigmatic example of a pluralist legal system, one with a mix of both personal-law and territorial-law rules. In the time period that I examine in this essay, customary law took several different forms. What legislation, private records, and judicial decisions all call »custom« plays three different roles: law of specific ethnic groups, rights and customary practices concerning real property, and the law of towns.
Return Visits: The European Background of Transcultural Life Writing

In this article I read autobiographies by East Europeans who immigrated to Canada in connection with the Second World War as examples of transcultural life writing. My focus on the representation of return visits of these loyal Canadian citizens to their country of origin after 1989 reveals the underlying intention of relating the experience of life in a multicultural democratic society to the emergence of a new political consciousness in Eastern Europe. This paper analyzes the role played by the student movement in the restitution of democracy in Spain. Taking as a starting point the situation of university under the Franco dictatorship, and how (and why) students were dealt with, the major features that set the student movement apart from other kinds of activism in that time are described and linked to the unique effects that it had on the status quo, with a special stress on its ability to generate the kind of cultural change required for overcoming the atmosphere of resignation and consent that helped to keep the government in power. Resum : El simil de la segona cobla de la canco 74 d’Ausias March s’articula al voltant d’un mot agrest i poc poetic: «paralitic». Dues obres de divulgacio aristotelica del dos-cents, la Summa Alexandrinorum i la Sententia libri Ethicorum de Tomas d’Aquino, tambe empren «paralitic» en el mateix context, a saber, per a referir-se a l’incontinent, es a dir, a qui pateix la malaltia de la voluntat. Resum: Carmelo Esmaltado con tantas brillantes estrelles, cuantas flores terceras, fecundas de frutos de virtud y religion, cultivo y fijo en el cielo de la Santa Iglesia la venerable Orden Tercera de Nuestra Senora del Carmen , es el titol de l’obra que el carmelita aragones Roque Alberto Faci (1684-1744) va publicar el 1743. El llibre es un tractat per als membres de la tercera ordre del Carmel en que trobem diverses biografies de terciaries carmelites.
