Previous work concerning measurement of second language learners has tended to focus on the knowledge of small numbers of words, often geared towards measuring vocabulary size. This paper presents a “tall” dataset containing information about a few learners’ knowledge of many words, suitable for evaluating Vocabulary Inventory Prediction (VIP) techniques, including those based on Computerised Adaptive Testing (CAT). Šī darba mērķis ir izpētīt lietojuma norādes piecās vadošajās angļu valodas mācību vārdnīcās, lai noskaidrotu, vai vārdnīcas izmanto konsekventu pieeju attiecībā uz lietojuma norāžu izmantošanu. Pētījumā tiek izmantota aprakstošā un salīdzinošā satura analīzes metode. Pētījuma ietvaros arī tika veikta aptauja, lai uzzinātu, kāda ir lietotāju attieksme pret lietojuma norāžu atspoguļojumu vārdnīcās un cik lielā mērā tās ir noderīgas lietotājiem. New developments in teaching led to the design of an experimental e-learning course in Slovak based on the philosophy of dynamic learning and using the metaphor of climbing a mountain for learning Slovak. Diplomdarba mērķis bija atrast veidu, kā nostiprināt vārdu krājumu svešvalodā 3. klasē, pārvēršot to par aktīvu vārdu krājumu, izmantojot kolāžas. Darba tēma tika izvēlēta, jo autore tic, ka vārdu krājums ir pamats svešvalodu apgūšanā. Skolotāja uzdevums ir palīdzēt skolēniem apgūt vārdu krājumu, izmantojot vizuālos materiālus mācību procesā pēc iespējas vairāk. Izvēlētā pētījuma metode bija atsevišķa gadījuma pētījums, kas tika veikts Rīgas 32. vidusskolā 3. klasē. International audience; The main objective of this study is to test the perception of the vowel /y/ among the Polish learners of FLE, as it does not exist in their natural vowel system. We defend the hypothesis that optimal perception conditions can make the identification and acquisition of new sounds more intelligible.; L'objectif principal de cette étude est de tester la perception de la voyelle /y/ chez des apprenants polonais du FLE, celle-ci n'existant pas, en effet, dans leur système vocalique naturel. Nous défendons l'hypothèse selon laquelle des conditions de perception optimales peuvent rendre plus nettes, plus intelligibles, la perception et l'acquisition de sons nouveaux.
Teacher-child interaction quality and children's self-regulation in toddler classrooms in Finland and Portugal

This study examines the association between teacher–child interaction quality and children's self‐regulation in Finnish and Portuguese toddler classrooms. The participants included 230 Finnish (M = 29; SD = 3 months) and 283 Portuguese (M = 30, SD = 4 months) toddlers and their teachers (n = 43 Finland; n = 29 Portugal). The children's behavioural self‐regulation (attention, working memory, and inhibition control) was individually tested, and the teachers evaluated the children's self‐regulation skills in the classroom.
