Mixed Phases, Phase Transitions, Stability of Matter

Phase mixtures and phase transitions are two major themes of thermodynamics. A third one, related to the former, is the stability of macroscopic matter around us. Mixed phases can be analyzed and illustrated in a nice geometric way. Phase transitions are dealt with from the point of view of classical thermodynamics as well as in the framework of models of statistical mechanics.

Riflessioni su D. 50.16.130 (Ulp. 2 ad leg. Iul. et Pap.)

The research focuses on analysis of a well-known fragment of Justinian’s Digesta: 50.16.130 (Ulp. 2 ad leg. Iul. et Pap.). Formerly, several scholars have raised many doubts regard to its authenticity. The author’s basic idea is that there are not solid issues in favor of the hypothesis that the fragment is not genuine. On the contrary, both the examination of the terminology, used in the fragment, and the comparison between D. 50.16.130 and other sources (in particular: D. 38.16.1 pr.; 5.3.1 e 3; Tit. Ulp. 11.2-3; 11.14) might provide interesting evidences in support of its classical content.

Arderique es el título de un libro de caballerías castellano, anónimo, publicado en 1517 (Valencia, Juan Viñao). El artículo se centra en la función que desempeña en la obra un personaje, san Paulicio, cuyo auxilio se muestra decisivo en determinados momentos de la acción, empezando por el nacimiento de la heroína del relato. Se estudia el posible entronque de este Paulicio de la ficción con personajes históricos y con las vitae de santos eremitas, como san Pablo de Tebas.
