The study aims were to 1) examine profiles of perception of motor competence (PMC) in relation to actual motor competence (AMC), i.e. under-estimators (UEs), realistic estimators (REs) and over-estimators (OEs) and 2) investigate associations between the profiles and selected socioecological factors at the individual, family and environmental levels. This study investigates social exclusion from peer interaction and relationships among children in one Finnish daycare center. Social exclusion is a multifaceted phenomenon that can be encountered as a result of for instance peer exclusion or social withdrawal. Persistent social exclusion can have severe negative consequences. However, social exclusion is also an inevitable part of social life. This study discusses the multiplicity of this phenomenon in one daycare center. This study is a micro-ethnography. I wrote notes and video-recorded the everyday life of two child groups for 12 days. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää Papilio-ohjelman lapsille suunnatun intervention vaikuttavuutta lasten sosioemotionaalisten taitojen kehittymisessä. Tutkimuksessa hyödynnettiin Jyväskylän yliopiston Papilio-ohjelma lasten sosioemotionaalisten taitojen tukemiseen ja itsesäätelypulmien ennaltaehkäisyyn -tutkimushankeen aineistoa, joka on kerätty syksyn 2015 ja kevään 2016 aikana 5–6-vuotiailta lapsilta. Papilio-hankkeen tarkoituksena on selvittää saksalaisen interventio-ohjelman siirrettävyyttä suomalaiseen varhaiskasvatuskontekstiin. This study explores young children’s possibilities for influence in situations of child–educator disagreement in Finnish early childhood education and care (ECEC). Data were gathered from observations conducted in four ECEC groups of under three year-olds. A total of 112 child–educator disagreements were analysed qualitatively using reflexive thematic analysis. Children’s influence was rather limited in most disagreements, as these involved the established institutional order as manifested in the rules and norms of daily activities and educators’ control over children’s bodies and material resources.
