Rediģēšanas prasmju loma sarakstes kvalitātes paaugstināšanā

2021

Informazioni tecniche e linguaggio nel De metatione castrorum dello ps. Igino

2010

In this account I write about the author, the title, and the age in which was written the small book de met. castr., and also about the way used to draw the plan of the camp, whose ground ps. Hyginus divides into the parties of the army, calculating generally three feet to each rider and 1,20 to each soldier. The work of the surveyor is necessary, so as the author writes, to make stronger some parts of the fortifications, for example the four angles of the vallum that become rounded; through the claviculae the four gates are surer. Some words are very interesting, because they are not used by other authors or they have specific meaning; the speech of the small book, as it seems natural in t…

Peptide-Controlled Assembly of Macroscopic Calcium Oxalate Nanosheets

2019

The fabrication of two-dimensional (2D) biomineral nanosheets is of high interest owing to their promise for applications in electronics, filtration, catalysis, and chemical sensing. Using a facile approach inspired by biomineralization in nature, we fabricate laterally macroscopic calcium oxalate nanosheets using β-folded peptides. The template peptides are composed of repetitive glutamic acid and leucine amino acids, self-organized at the air-water interface. Surface-specific sum frequency generation spectroscopy and molecular dynamics simulations reveal that the formation of oxalate nanosheets relies on the peptide-Ca 2+ ion interaction at the interface, which not only restructures the …

Potent SARS-CoV-2 mRNA Cap Methyltransferase Inhibitors by Bioisosteric Replacement of Methionine in SAM Cosubstrate

2021

Viral mRNA cap methyltransferases (MTases) are emerging targets for the development of broad-spectrum antiviral agents. In this work, we designed potential SARS-CoV-2 MTase Nsp14 and Nsp16 inhibitors by using bioisosteric substitution of the sulfonium and amino acid substructures of the cosubstrate S-adenosylmethionine (SAM), which serves as the methyl donor in the enzymatic reaction. The synthetically accessible target structures were prioritized using molecular docking. Testing of the inhibitory activity of the synthesized compounds showed nanomolar to submicromolar IC50 values for five compounds. To evaluate selectivity, enzymatic inhibition of the human glycine N-methyltransferase invol…

Zero-field NMR of urea : spin-topology engineering by chemical exchange

2021

Well-resolved and information-rich J-spectra are the foundation for chemical detection in zero-field NMR. However, even for relatively small molecules, spectra exhibit complexity, hindering the analysis. To address this problem, we investigate an example biomolecule with a complex J-coupling network─urea, a key metabolite in protein catabolism─and demonstrate ways of simplifying its zero-field spectra by modifying spin topology. This goal is achieved by controlling pH-dependent chemical exchange rates of 1H nuclei and varying the composition of the D2O/H2O mixture used as a solvent. Specifically, we demonstrate that by increasing the proton exchange rate in the [13C,15N2]-urea solution, the…
