We try to show that up to now scholars (following Westphal) have attributed too many parts of the ps.-plutarcheo tract "De musica" to Eraclide Pontico; the unknown author drew from the latter only what he says he read in Sicyon's inscription.

Written in the 1950s but unpublished until 1971, it is an undoubtedly innovative work which thwarts the readersʼ expectations due to its fragmentary composition, elliptical tendencies, and the underlying dialogue amongst literature, visual arts and science running throughout the text.
