“Two-Story” Calix[6]arene-Based Zinc and Copper Complexes: Structure, Properties, and O 2 Binding

2017

International audience; A new “two-story” calix[6]arene-based ligand was synthesized, and its coordination chemistry was explored. It presents a tren cap connected to the calixarene small rim through three amido spacers. X-ray diffraction studies of its metal complexes revealed a six-coordinate ZnII complex with all of the carbonyl groups of the amido arms bound and a five-coordinate CuII complex with only one amido arm bound. These dicationic complexes were poorly responsive toward exogenous neutral donors, but the amido arms were readily displaced by small anions or deprotonated with a base to give the corresponding monocationic complexes. Cyclic voltammetry in various solvents showed a r…

NHC-Stabilized Au10 Nanoclusters and Their Conversion to Au25 Nanoclusters

2022

Herein, we describe the synthesis of a toroidal Au10 cluster stabilized by N-heterocyclic carbene and halide ligands via reduction of the corresponding NHC−Au−X complexes (X = Cl, Br, I). The significant effect of the halide ligands on the formation, stability, and further conversions of these clusters is presented. While solutions of the chloride derivatives of Au10 show no change even upon heating, the bromide derivative readily undergoes conversion to form a biicosahedral Au25 cluster at room temperature. For the iodide derivative, the formation of a significant amount of Au25 was observed even upon the reduction of NHC−Au−I. The isolated bromide derivative of the Au25 cluster displays a…

Paramagnetic aluminium β-diketiminate

2012

The β-diketiminate ligand framework is shown to undergo reduction to form a neutral main group radical stabilized by spiroconjugation of the unpaired electron over the group 13 element centre. The synthesized paramagnetic complex was characterized by EPR spectroscopy and computational chemistry. peerReviewed

Synthesis and investigation of coordinative properties of biimidazole-derived ligands

2015

For this thesis a study of the coordination properties of biimidazole-based compounds was performed. The thesis is divided into two parts: literature part, where the chemistry and application of biimidazole and its derivatives are discussed, and experimental part, where the synthesis and coordination properties of biimidazole-based ligands are studied and discussed. The literature part contains a discussion of coordinative properties of biimidazole-derived ligands and a discussion of different types of weak interactions. Definition, nature and examples of hydrogen and different types of π-bonding were considered in detail. Due to chemical properties of biimidazole-derived compounds they hav…

Exploiting the Chiral Ligands of Bis(imidazolinyl)- and Bis(oxazolinyl)thiophenes : Synthesis and Application in Cu-Catalyzed Friedel–Crafts Asymmetr…

2021

Five new C2-symmetric chiral ligands of 2,5-bis(imidazolinyl)thiophene (L1–L3) and 2,5-bis(oxazolinyl)thiophene (L4 and L5) were synthesized from thiophene-2,5-dicarboxylic acid (1) with enantiopure amino alcohols (4a–c) in excellent optical purity and chemical yield. The utility of these new chiral ligands for Friedel–Crafts asymmetric alkylation was explored. Subsequently, the optimized tridentate ligand L5 and Cu(OTf)2 catalyst (15 mol%) in toluene for 48 h promoted Friedel–Crafts asymmetric alkylation in moderate to good yields (up to 76%) and with good enantioselectivity (up to 81% ee). The bis(oxazolinyl)thiophene ligands were more potent than bis(imidazolinyl)thiophene analogues for …

Group 13 complexes of dipyridylmethane, a forgotten ligand in coordination chemistry.

2015

The reactions of dipyridylmethane (dpma) with group 13 trichlorides were investigated in 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 molar ratios using NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. With 1 : 1 stoichiometry and Et2O as solvent, reactions employing AlCl3 or GaCl3 gave mixtures of products with the salt [(dpma)2MCl2](+)[MCl4](-) (M = Al, Ga) as the main species. The corresponding reactions in 1 : 2 molar ratio gave similar mixtures but with [(dpma)MCl2](+)[MCl4](-) as the primary product. Pure salts [(dpma)AlCl2](+)[Cl](-) and [(dpma)AlCl2](+)[AlCl4](-) could be obtained by performing the reactions in CH3CN. In the case of InCl3, a neutral monoadduct (dpma)InCl3 formed regardless of the stoichiometry emplo…

The cyclic [N(PiPr2E)2]+ (E = Se, Te) cations: a new class of inorganic ring system.

2006

The two-electron oxidation of [(tmeda)NaN(PiPr2E)2] with iodine produces the cyclic [N(PiPr2E)2]+ (E = Se, Te) cations, which exhibit long E–E bonds in the iodide salts. peerReviewed

Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) mononuclear building blocks based on new polynucleating azomethine ligand : Synthesis and characterization

2017

Five new mononuclear complexes formed by the polynucleating ligand 2-[1-(3,5-dimethyl)pyrazolyl]-2-hydroxyimino-N′-[1-(2-pyridyl)ethylidene]acetohydrazide (HL): [Ni(L)(HL)]ClO4·2CH3OH (1), [Ni(L)2]·CH3OH (2), [Zn(L)(HL)]ClO4·2CH3OH (3), [Zn(L)2]·CH3OH (4) and [Cu(L)2]·CH3OH (5) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, mass-spectrometry, IR-spectroscopy and X-ray analysis. The complexes reveal distorted octahedral N4O2 coordination arrangement formed by both protonated and deprotonated (1, 3) or two deprotonated ligand molecules (2, 4, 5). The presence of non-coordinated oxime and pyrazole groups resulted in the formation of extensive systems of hydrogen bonds in the crystal…

Chloride ligands on DNA-stabilized silver nanoclusters

2023

DNA-stabilized silver nanoclusters (AgN-DNAs) are known to have one or two DNA oligomer ligands per nanocluster. Here, we present the first evidence that AgN-DNA species can possess additional chloride ligands that lead to increased stability in biologically relevant concentrations of chloride. Mass spectrometry of five chromatographically isolated near-infrared (NIR)-emissive AgN-DNA species with previously reported X-ray crystal structures determines their molecular formulas to be (DNA)2[Ag16Cl2]8+. Chloride ligands can be exchanged for bromides, which red-shift the optical spectra of these emitters. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations of the 6-electron nanocluster show that the …
