Small and medium-sized enterprises SMEs are increasingly implementing enterprise resource planning ERP systems. Compared to large enterprises, SMEs differ in a number of inherent characteristics, which are likely to impact the ERP system implementations. The purpose of this study is to explore these influences of the SME context on the ERP system implementation process. SME characteristics are synthesised from relevant literature and the influences of the contextual factors on various activities across the ERP life cycle are investigated. Morphometry of microstromatolites in calcrete laminar crusts and a fractal model of their growth

The laminar crust, constituting the upper part of calcretes (terrestrial CaCO3 accumulations inside surficial sediments), is a succession of thin layers of various colors and shapes resembling micro-stromatolites. The crust structure and its diagenetic evolution are similar to stromatolites. A quantitative study of its structure was made using image analysis. Euclidian parameters were calculated to describe lamina shape. Eight hundred and eighty-six laminae were divided into six classes from the flatest forms to columnar shapes. The book is devoted to three key questions concerning the relationship between complexity and natural language. Briefly, such questions are: (a) What kind of complexity for natural language? (b) Which theory of language in the perspective of complexity? (c) What sorts of methods and models in the analysis of the observed phenomena? All the essays in this volume show the reference to complexity as a constant element. However, the use of the singular may not be entirely appropriate.

AbstractThe properties of some aggregates “grown” on a computer by diffusion-limited aggregation have been investigated. Calculations showed that the intensity of the small-angle x-ray and neutron scattering from the aggregates was proportional to q−D for qL ≫ 1, where D > 0, L is a length that characterizes the large-scale structure of the aggregate, q = 4πλ−1 sin(θ/2), γ is the wavelength, and θ is the scattering angle. The magnitude of the exponent D was appreciably smaller than the fractal dimensions that many simulations have shown to be typical of the mass fractal aggregates grown by diffusion-limited aggregation. One of the most studied life-history trade-offs is that resulting from the cost of reproduction: a trade-off arises when reproduction diverts limited resources from other life-history traits. We examine the cost of reproduction in male, and the effect of male mating status on female Callosobruchus maculatus seed beetles. Cost of reproduction for male C. maculatus was manifested as reduced longevity. There was also a positive relationship between male body size and male longevity. In complete denture wearers the maximum bite force (MBF) is known to be considerably lower than in dentate people. Low MBF might therefore be an indication of poor denture fit but there is limited evidence on this. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate whether MBF can be improved by the replacement of complete dentures for elderly people. Nine edentulous volunteers, average age 74·2 ± 5·5 years and average denture experience 19·4 ± 19·5 years (1–50 years), had replacement dentures made.
