Expression of emotion through musical parameters in 3- and 5-year-olds

While the use of musical parameters for emotional expression has been extensively studied, little is known about which specific musical parameters children at different ages are able to use for expressing specific emotions. We used a novel interface called Music Box that allows modification of musical parameters while music is being played in real time. Children (N = 37, 18 girls) at the age of 3 and 5 were asked to modify three parameters – tempo, loudness, and pitch – in expressing three emotions – happiness, sadness, and anger. [EN] Royal Decree 463/2020, of March 14, declared the state of alarm as a consequence of COVID-19. From this declaration, a series of royal decree-laws have followed one another that have introduced a series of changes in the financial system to adapt the tax obligations to the health crisis situation. In this sense, the deadlines for filing resource, the forms and deadlines for filing and paying declarations and self-settlement have been modified, as well as certain procedures and acts while this exceptional regime lasts. In this study we are going to analyze the adoption of these measures and their accommodation in Tax Law.

Background The prevalence of and risk factors for central nervous system recurrence in patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia are not well established and remain a controversial matter. Design and Methods Between 1996 and 2005, 739 patients with newly diagnosed acute promyelocytic leukemia enrolled in two consecutive trials (PETHEMA LPA96 and LPA99) received induction therapy-with all-trans retinoic acid and idarubicin. Patients' and physicians' preferences for type 2 diabetes mellitus treatments in Spain and Portugal: a discrete choice experiment.

Objective: To assess Spanish and Portuguese patients' and physicians' preferences regarding type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) treatments and the monthly willingness to pay (WTP) to gain benefits or avoid side effects. Methods: An observational, multicenter, exploratory study focused on routine clinical practice in Spain and Portugal. The GPRO suite is an in-progress bioinformatic project for -omics data analysis. As part of the continued growth of this project, we introduce a client- and server-side solution for comparative transcriptomics and analysis of variants. The client-side consists of two Java applications called “RNASeq” and “VariantSeq” to manage pipelines and workflows based on the most common command line interface tools for RNA-seq and Variant-seq analysis, respectively. [Background] Frailty is a common syndrome among older adults and patients with several comorbidities. Grip strength (GS) is a representative parameter of frailty because it is a valid indicator of current and long-term physical conditions in the general population and patients with severe mental illnesses (SMIs). Physical and cognitive capacities of people with SMIs are usually impaired; however, their relationship with frailty or social functioning have not been studied to date. The current study aimed to determine if GS is a valid predictor of changes in cognitive performance and social functioning in patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus and SMIs.

Summary Levels of free 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC), its malonyl conjugate (MACC) and ACC-synthase activity were significantly higher in the needles of damaged Norway spruce trees ( Picea abies (L.) Karst ) compared with those in undamaged trees during both the diurnal and seasonal courses. The concentrations of ACC and MACC, and ACC-synthase activity fluctuated much more intensively in the needles of damaged trees both in the diurnal and the seasonal courses than in those of undamaged ones, which implies that damaged trees respond more sensitively to the environmental conditions.
