Il saggio analizza la tesi di laurea "Gli studi d’archeologia e la formazione del gusto neoclassico in Europa (1738-1829)", discussa da Gesualdo Bufalino nella seduta di laurea del 12 marzo del 1947, e recentemente ritrovata nell’Archivio storico dell’Ateneo di Palermo, dimostrando come la lettura di questo scritto giovanile permetta di riconsiderare retrospettivamente la parabola di Bufalino sottolineandone anche l’effetto di continuità, al di là dello scopo marcatamente funzionale cui qui obbedisce la scrittura.

MTOR inhibitor-based combination therapies for pancreatic cancer

Background: Although the mechanistic target of rapamycin (MTOR) kinase, included in the mTORC1 and mTORC2 signalling hubs, has been demonstrated to be active in a significant fraction of patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), the value of the kinase as a therapeutic target needs further clarification. Methods: We used Mtor floxed mice to analyse the function of the kinase in context of the pancreas at the genetic level. Ruiša pūķgalves in vitro ekstrakta drošība tā pielietojumam kosmētikas preparātos tika noteikta, pārbaudot tā ietekmi uz dažādu ādas tipu šūnu proliferāciju un morfoloģiju. Ādu balinošā potenciāla novērtēšanai tika izmantots sēņu tirozināzes inhibīcijas tests un cilvēka ādas melanomas šūnu in vitro modelis. Search for photonic signatures of gauge-mediated supersymmetry in 8TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector

A search is presented for photonic signatures motivated by generalized models of gauge-mediated supersymmetry breaking. This search makes use of 20.3 fb[superscript −1] of proton-proton collision data at √s = 8 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC, and explores models dominated by both strong and electroweak production of supersymmetric partner states. Four experimental signatures incorporating an isolated photon and significant missing transverse momentum are explored. These signatures include events with an additional photon, lepton, b-quark jet, or jet activity not associated with any specific underlying quark flavor. So far considered as endemic to Greece, Hieracium umbrosum subsp. abietinum is reported as new for the Italian flora. Its presence has been noted on the Pollino National Park (S Italy). Morphological, ecological and taxonomical notes are given. This discovery increases the list of taxa showing an amphi-Adriatic distribution.

Il sistema tradizionale di molitura con macine azionate dall'energia idraulica, diffuso in tutto il Mediterraneo, è presente molti Comuni della provincia di Palermo, ed è rimasto in uso fino al secondo dopoguerra. Italica (Seville, Spain): use of local marble in Augustan age

This study concerns 51 marble finds made of “Cipollino verde” coming from the ancient city of Italica (north of the modern city of Santiponce, 9 km NW of Seville, Spain), the earliest Roman settlement in Spain, founded in 206 B.C. The aim of this work was to determine their provenance from Greek and Italian quarries or from local quarries worked in the Iberian Peninsula. Thin-section optical microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, bulk rock chemistry and O, C and Sr stable isotope analyses were carried out.
