The energy transfer to the luminescence centers in PbWO4

Abstract The luminescence spectra, rise and decay kinetics and the yield of luminescence in undoped PbWO 4 crystals were studied after pulsed electron beam irradiation. The luminescence intensity rise observed after irradiation pulse showed two mechanisms—excitonic relaxation and electron–hole recombination—were involved in the formation of the excited states of the blue luminescence centers. It is proposed that the excited states of WO 3 and WO 2− 4 luminescence centers were formed from some intermediate metastable state.

Abstract The glow rate technique (GRT) is the extension of the known heating rate method to the full glow curve. The GRT like the fractional glow technique (FGT) offers a procedure for evaluation of the mean activation energy as a function of temperature in the case of arbitrary thermostimulated relaxation kinetics represented by trap distribution function. Magnetooptical studies of defects and recombination luminescence in LiBaF3

Abstract Optically detected EPR investigations have been performed on the recombination luminescence (RL-EPR) of LiBaF3 crystal, X-irradiated at T=4.2 K . RL-EPR lines of VK- centres were found, as well as further lines of a defect with S= 1 2 and an axial g-tensor with its main axis along a [1 0 0] direction of the crystal. Measurements of the magnetic circular dichroism of the absorption (MCDA) have been performed on LiBaF3 crystals X-irradiated at two temperatures ( 4.2 K and RT). After irradiation at T=4.2 K , the main MCDA bands peak at 453 and 500 nm , but after irradiation at T=300 K , the main bands peak at 444 and 390 nm , there is a change of the sign between the peaks in both cas…

Abstract The paper reports comparative studies on synthesized aluminium nitride nanotubes, nanoparticles and commercially available micron-sized AlN powder using different spectroscopic techniques: cathodoluminescence measurements (CL), X-ray absorption near edge spectroscopy (XANES) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Thermoluminescence properties of AlN ceramics

Abstract The paper describes thermoluminescence (TL) properties of AlN:Y 2 O 3 ceramics irradiated with ionising radiation. A high TL sensitivity of AlN:Y 2 O 3 ceramics to radiation encouraged a study of the AlN ceramics for application as a dosimetric material. The paper presents experimental data on: glow curve, emission spectrum, dose response, energy dependence, influence of heating rate and fading rate. The measured TL characteristics were compared with those of well-known, widely used TLDs, i.e. LiF:Mg,Ti, LiF:Mg,Cu,P and Al 2 O 3 :C. Luminescence of cerium doped YAG nanopowders

Abstract Cerium doped YAG nanopowders with grain size ∼ 20 nm have been synthesized by co-precipitation method. Time-resolved luminescence characteristics have been studied. The results obtained have been compared with the luminescence characteristics for well-studied YAG single crystals. In contrast to cerium doped YAG crystals, cerium doped nanocrystal does not reveal luminescence bands due to antisite defects under electron beam pulse and X-ray excitations at 80–300 K temperature range. It was detected that decay kinetic of Ce 3 + related emission in the nanocrystal can be approximated by two exponents with time constants ∼ 9 and ∼ 47 ns at 290 K. Peculiarities of luminescent properties of cerium doped YAG transparent nanoceramics

Abstract Optical and luminescence properties of transparent nanosized cerium doped Y 3 Al 5 O 12 (YAG:Ce) ceramics have been studied. YAG:Ce nanoceramics were obtained by means of low temperature and high pressure (LTHP) sintering method. Nanoceramic samples were sintered in the 2–8 GPa pressure range, whereas Ce 3+ concentration was varied in the 0.5–5 at. % range. It is shown that, in contrast to the single crystal, a strong rise of absorption coefficient was detected already at wavelength shorter than 400 nm in all nanoceramic samples studied. Abstract Thin films of 1-pentyl-2 / ,3 / -difluoro-3 /// -methyl-4 //// -octyl- p -quinquephenyl and 9,10-Bis (4-pentylphenylethynyl)antracene organic molecules were grown on optical glass, silicon and porous silicon substrates. First optical and luminescent properties of such hybrid composites are thoroughly studied using spectroscopic techniques. The strong decrease of aggregation in thin films of 1-pentyl-2 / ,3 / -difluoro-3 /// -methyl-4 //// -octyl- p -quinquephenyl on porous silicon was observed. The possibility of simultaneous red, green and blue tunable photon emission from organic film/porous silicon hybrid structure is demonstrated.
Stimulated luminescence of AlN ceramics induced by ultraviolet radiation

Abstract Properties of thermally stimulated luminescence (TL) and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) of the ceramic material AlN-Y 2 O 3 have been studied after exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR). The dosemeter material Al 2 O 3 : C has been used for comparative measurements. The spectral sensitivity of the samples has been studied and compared with spectral effectiveness of the UVR-induced biological processes. It has been shown that a very high yield and linear dose response characterise the UVR-induced TL from AlN-Y 2 O 3 . Abstract The photoluminescence (PL) and thermoluminescence (TL) properties of AlN ceramics revealed under UV irradiation are determined mainly by oxygen-related centres, giving rise to the UV (around 3.18 eV) and the Blue (2.58 eV) bands. It was found that the UV irradiation-generated donor–acceptor pairs (DAPs), responsible for the UV emission band, are randomly distributed with regard to separation distance. Luminescence properties of AlN are interpreted basing on the model of localised recombination involving electron tunnel transitions from the excited state of D to the ground state of A, proposed by Jain et al.
