2019
In the last ten years it happens less frequently to hear teachers talk about "pranks" when debating about the trend that shows a small number of teenagers and very young students, to put aggressive, violent discriminating, and, in general, victimizing behaviors are taking place. At least, we register this trend in the perception of the teachers we interviewed. It is certainly a sign, or even a consequence, of the fact that the entire educational institution, from the top management to the teachers, for over twenty years now, has become aware not only of the fact that that weren’t "pranks", but seriously aggressive behaviors, but also of the fact that, in addition to pro-sociality and non-ag…
Emotional Competence in Primary School Children: Examining the Effect of a Psycho-Educational Group Intervention: A Pilot Prospective Study
2022
Emotional competence (EC) is a key component of children’s psychological, cognitive, and social development, and it is a central element of learning. The primary goal of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing a psycho-educational group intervention aimed at improving children’s emotional competence (EC), quality of integration and scholastic skills. A total of 229 children (123 females; M Age = 7.22 years; SD = 0.97 years) completed the Pictures of Facial Affect (POFA), the Drawn Stories Technique, the Classroom Drawing, and the Colored Progressive Matrices. Facilitators and Barriers to the Sustainability of a School-Based Bullying Prevention Program.
2022
AbstractThe long-term sustainment of bullying prevention programs has rarely been investigated. This study addresses this gap by identifying facilitators and barriers to the systematic implementation of KiVa antibullying program in real-life conditions, after an evaluation trial. The study is based on focus group interviews with teachers from 15 Finnish primary schools implementing the KiVa program. The schools were selected based on the annual KiVa survey data, with the criteria of long-term involvement in delivering the program and reaching successful outcomes in terms of decreasing trends in bullying and victimization. By utilizing thematic analysis, we identified program-related, organi…
RILIEVO FOTOGRAMMETRICO E ANALISI CFD DI COPPIE GENOA RANDA E CONFRONTO TRA FLYING SHAPE E DESIGN SHAPE
2011
The Contribution of Bullying Involvement and Alexithymia to Somatic Complaints in Preadolescents
2023
Somatic complaints during preadolescence are connected to individual and contextual factors, and extant research highlights the relevance of alexithymia and bullying involvement. In this cross-sectional study, we explored the joint and unique influence of bullying involvement—as perpetrators, victims, or outsiders—and alexithymia on somatic complaints in a sample of 179 Italian middle-school students (aged 11–15). Findings revealed an indirect association between bullying perpetration and victimization complaints through alexithymia. We also found a significant direct association between victimization and somatic complaints. No significant association between outsider beha…

Cyberbullying & Company. From Myths to Empirical Evidence
2015
Cyberbullying and other online risks have been given lately growing attention by popular media, policy makers, academics, parents and educators. Beyond any deterministic views of technology and its impact on individuals (particularly children) as well as beyond the mythological views and moral panic that often dominate public discourses about children and digital technologies, this chapter argues for a more evidence-based and multidimensional/contextual approach that locates cyberbullying within the complex network of children’s online activities, socio-demographic variables, parental, peer’s and teachers’ mediation, ICT country-specific regulation, educational systems, etc. Drawing from th…
