Evaluating the Efficiency of Different Regression, Decision Tree, and Bayesian Machine Learning Algorithms in Spatial Piping Erosion Susceptibility U…
2020
Piping erosion is one form of water erosion that leads to significant changes in the landscape and environmental degradation. In the present study, we evaluated piping erosion modeling in the Zarandieh watershed of Markazi province in Iran based on random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), and Bayesian generalized linear models (Bayesian GLM) machine learning algorithms. For this goal, due to the importance of various geo-environmental and soil properties in the evolution and creation of piping erosion, 18 variables were considered for modeling the piping erosion susceptibility in the Zarandieh watershed. A total of 152 points of piping erosion were recognized in the study area that…
Spatial representations of future in Homeric Greek
2015
The aim of this paper is to investigate the space-time mapping of the future in Homeric Greek. It is widely accepted that the spatial adverbs πρόσσω ‘in front’ and ὀπίσσω ‘behind’ in the Homeric poems are used to portray temporal events located in a sequence of aligned entities that follow one after the other on the same path (Dunkel, 1983, p. 66). In such a temporal sequence, or Time-rp model, those adverbs are associated respectively to past and future events in a bipartite spatial representation of time, without involving a deictic ego-experiencer. After analyzing data from the Homeric poems in a cognitive linguistic perspective, it is found that some temporal uses of the preposition πρό…

Personnel analysis and its reliability
2014
Tässä tutkimuksessa selvitetään rekrytointi- ja henkilöarviointiyritys MindFit Consulting Oy:n työnhakijoista tekemien henkilöanalyysiraporttien, MindFitin henkilöanalyysien, luotettavuutta. Tarkoitus on tutkia, kuinka yhdenmukaisesti analyysien lukijat ymmärtävät analyysien sisällön. Tutkimuksessa luodaan kyselylomake, jonka avulla eri analyysiraportin lukijat pisteyttävät analyysien sisällön. Lukijoiden antamien pisteiden yhdenmukaisuus mitataan analyysien luotettavuuden (inter-rater reliability) selvittämiseksi. Tutkittavat henkilöanalyysit ovat sanallisia raportteja työnhakijoista. Käytännössä analyysiteksti operationalisoidaan kriteereiksi, jotka voidaan pisteyttää numeerisesti kyselyl…

We establish a weighted version of the $H^p$-theory of quasiconformal mappings.
Microscale X-ray mapping of CZT arrays: Spatial dependence of amplitude, shape and multiplicity of detector pulses
2018
In this work, we present the results of a microscale X-ray mapping of a 2 mm thick CZT pixel detector, with pixel pitches of 500 μm and 250 μm, using collimated synchrotron X-ray sources at the Diamond Light source (U. K.). The detector is dc coupled to a fast and low noise ASIC (PIXIE ASIC), characterized only by the preamplifier stage. A custom 16-channel digital readout electronics was used, able to perform online fast pulse shape and height analysis (PSHA), with low dead time and reasonable energy resolution at both low and high fluxes. The detector allows high bias voltage operation (> 5000 V/cm) and good energy resolution at room temperature (5.3 %, 2.3 % and 2.1 % FWHM at 22.1, 59…
Mappings of L p -integrable distortion: regularity of the inverse
2016
Let X be an open set in R n and suppose that f : X → R n is a Sobolev homeomorphism. We study the regularity of f −1 under the L p -integrability assumption on the distortion function Kf . First, if X is the unit ball and p > n−1, then the optimal local modulus of continuity of f −1 is attained by a radially symmetric mapping. We show that this is not the case when p 6 n − 1 and n > 3, and answer a question raised by S. Hencl and P. Koskela. Second, we obtain the optimal integrability results for |Df −1 | in terms of the L p -integrability assumptions of Kf . peerReviewed
Mappings of Lp-integrable distortion: regularity of the inverse
2016
Let be an open set in ℝn and suppose that is a Sobolev homeomorphism. We study the regularity of f–1 under the Lp-integrability assumption on the distortion function Kf. First, if is the unit ball and p > n – 1, then the optimal local modulus of continuity of f–1 is attained by a radially symmetric mapping. We show that this is not the case when p ⩽ n – 1 and n ⩾ 3, and answer a question raised by S. Hencl and P. Koskela. Second, we obtain the optimal integrability results for ∣Df–1∣ in terms of the Lp-integrability assumptions of Kf.
