Application of Precision Agriculture for the Sustainable Management of Fertilization in Olive Groves

2023

Olive tree growing (Olea europaea L.) has considerably increased in the last decades, as has the consumption of extra virgin olive oil in the world. Precision agriculture is increasingly being applied in olive orchards as a new method to manage agronomic variability with the aim of providing individual plants with the right input amount, limiting waste or excess. The objective of this study was to develop a methodology on a GIS platform using GEOBIA algorithms in order to build prescription maps for variable rate (VRT) nitrogen fertilizers application in an olive orchard. The fertilization plan was determined for each tree by applying its own nitrogen balance, taking into account the variab…

Navigācijas lietotņu "Google Maps" un "Waze" lietojamības salīdzinājums viedtālruņos

2018

Mūsdienās viedtālruņi ļoti attīstās, līdz ar to, attīstās arī to funkcijas. Viena no tām ir navigācijas lietotnes, bez kurām nav iedomājama mūsdienu cilvēku ikdiena.

Mapping field-scale spatial patterns of size and activity of the denitrifier community

2009

International audience; There is ample evidence that microbial processes can exhibit large variations in activity on a field scale. However, very little is known about the spatial distribution of the microbial communities mediating these processes. Here we used geostatistical modelling to explore spatial patterns of size and activity of the denitrifying community, a functional guild involved in N-cycling, in a grassland field subjected to different cattle grazing regimes. We observed a non-random distribution pattern of the size of the denitrifier community estimated by quantification of the denitrification genes copy numbers with a macro-scale spatial dependence (6–16 m) and mapped the dis…

Setting up of a technical economic index of priority scales for urban noise control

2005

Correct application of the criteria contained in rules and/or recommendations allows verifying the exposure standards and provides technical directions for actions of protection along acoustically similar areas. Taking into account the compulsory value of the rule and the budget demands, in relation to the complexity of the concerned environmental system (noise sources, physical configuration, exposed people, etc.), an effective implementation of noise control measures can benefit by a procedure for fixing the optimum sequence. This paper we first analyse some priority criteria proposed by some of the authors. A further tool is available using the TEI Technical Economic Index, by the author…

Noise in a hospital area. Measure and evaluation

2005

The territory of Sciacca has been acoustically subdivided into homogeneous areas by the authors. In the present job, our attention is focused on the zones in class I that includes particularly sensitive areas as schools and hospitals. The acoustic climate inside and outside the hospital of Sciacca is carried out. The hospital was built on a hillock. Around the hillock two roads, an urban and a main highway are present, both with high traffic. With a campaign of measures, in proximity of the roads, in the hospital square, in the parking, and finally inside the hospital, the equivalent level and the patients exposure was calculated as Ld, Ln and DNL. Both the impact due to the roads (consider…

Design of large scale sensors in 180 nm CMOS process modified for radiation tolerance

2019

International audience; The last couple of years have seen the development of Depleted Monolithic Active Pixel Sensors (DMAPS) fabricated with a process modification to increase the radiation tolerance. Two large scale prototypes, Monopix with a column drain synchronous readout, and MALTA with a novel asynchronous architecture, have been fully tested and characterized both in the laboratory and in test beams. This showed that certain aspects have to be improved such as charge collection after irradiation and the output data rate. Some improvements resulting from extensive TCAD simulations were verified on a small test chip, Mini-MALTA. A detailed cluster analysis, using data from laboratory…

Skaitļu atpazīšana brīvā dabā uzņemtās fotogrāfijās

2022

Identification of Distributed Systems with Logical Interaction Structure

2012

This paper focuses on the structure identification problem for a class of networked systems, where the interaction among components or agents is described through logical maps. In particular, agents are heterogeneous cooperating systems, i.e. they may have different individual dynamics and different interaction rules depending on input events. While we assume that the individual agents' dynamics are known, each agent has partial knowledge of the logical map encoding the interaction of another agent with its neighbors. Based on the so-called algebraic normal form for binary functions, we present a technique by which the network structure described by a logical function can be dynamically est…

Maps in picturebooks: cognitive status and narrative functions

2015

This article focuses on the relation between maps, mental representations, description, and narration in picturebooks. It is shown that maps are cognitively demanding, since they presuppose the development of cognitive abilities and the comprehension of complex visual codes, including recognition of the specific combination of signs and names representing land- and cityscapes, geographical abstraction as well as the symbolization, highlighting, and suppression of information. After a survey of findings from cognitive psychology and geography literacy about children’s map acquisition, the article gives an overview on some types of maps in picturebooks that are interesting from a narrative po…
