Wireless Power Transfer System Design for E-bikes Application

The present work presents an analysis of Inductive Coupled Power Transfer (ICPT) Systems behaviour applied to electrical bikes. In particular, the study has focused on the design of the coupled coils of this system. In the first part of the work, the theoretical aspects of the wireless power system are handled. In the second part of the work, the inductive features of the coupled windings are analyzed. In order to perform this process, the Ansys Maxwell software has been used, performing 3D simulations. To conclude, the results of the simulations are compared.

Groundwater radon measurements in the Mt. Etna area.

Radon levels were measured in 119 groundwater samples collected throughout the active volcanic area of Mt. Etna by means of a portable Lucas-type scintillation chamber. The measured activity values range from 1.8 to 52.7 Bq l(-1). About 40% of the samples exceed the maximum contaminant level of 11 Bq l(-1) proposed by the USEPA in 1991. The highest radon levels are measured in the eastern sector of the volcano, which is the seismically most active zone of the volcano. On the contrary the south-western sector, which is both seismically active and a site of intense magmatic degassing, display lower radon levels. Design, modeling, and simulation of a photovoltaic water pumping system

Electric pumps cannot be fed in those areas where they are not connected to the electric public distribution grid. In those areas, it is useful to feed electric pumps by means of the electricity generated from renewable energy sources plants. Among these, the Solar Water Pumping Systems feed electric pump thanks to the electricity generated by a photovoltaic plant. In this paper, a whole SWPS is fully designed, modelled, and simulated in Matlab environment. The proposed implementation is an useful tool for SWPS testing.

Development of Slewing Mirror Telescope Optical System for the UFFO-pathfinder

The Slewing Mirror Telescope (SMT) is the UV/optical telescope of UFFO-pathfinder. The SMT optical system is a Ritchey-Chretien (RC) telescope of 100 mm diameter pointed by means of a gimbal-mounted flat mirror in front of the telescope. The RC telescope has a 17 × 17arcmin2 in Field of View and 4.3 arcsec resolution (full width half maximum of the point spread function) The beam-steering mirror enables the SMT to access a 35 × 35degree region and point and settle within 1 sec. Wireless power transfer system stability analysis for E-bikes application

The present work reports the stability analysis of an Inductive Coupled Power Transfer (ICPT) System coupled to an electrical bike. The study has focused on two coupled coils with circular geometry and vertical disposition. In the first part of the work, the theoretical aspects related to the stability of wireless power systems are handled. In the second part, performing several simulations, varying the features of the considered configuration, the stability is looked for. In order to perform this process, the Ansys Maxwell software has been used, performing 3D simulations.

Optimal control of the atmospheric arc of a space shuttle and numerical simulations with multiple-shooting method

This article, continuation of previous works, presents the applications of geometric optimal control theory to the analysis of the Earth re-entry problem for a space shuttle where the control is the angle of bank, the cost is the total amount of thermal flux, and the system is subject to state constraints on the thermal flux, the normal acceleration and the dynamic pressure. Optimal control of an ensemble of Bloch equations with applications in MRI

International audience; The optimal control of an ensemble of Bloch equations describing the evolution of an ensemble of spins is the mathematical model used in Nuclear Resonance Imaging and the associated costs lead to consider Mayer optimal control problems. The Maximum Principle allows to parameterize the optimal control and the dynamics is analyzed in the framework of geometric optimal control. This lead to numerical implementations or suboptimal controls using averaging principle.

Discrete and differential homotopy in circular restricted three-body control

The planar circular restricted three-body problem is considered. The control enters linearly in the equation of motion to model the thrust of the third body. The minimum time optimal control problem has two scalar parameters: The ratio of the primaries masses which embeds the two-body problem into the three-body one, and the upper bound on the control norm.
