Lifestyle and Empowerment Techniques in Survivorship of Gynaecologic Oncology (LETSGO study): A study protocol for a multicentre longitudinal interve…
2021
IntroductionThe number of gynaecological cancer survivors is increasing and there is a need for a more sustainable model of follow-up care. Today’s follow-up model is time-consuming and patients have reported unmet needs regarding information about their cancer and strategies for managing the consequences of treatment. The main aim of this study is to assess health-related empowerment—in terms of patient education, psychosocial support, and promotion of physical activity—in a new follow-up model by comparing it to standard follow-up in a quasi-randomised study involving intervention hospitals and control hospitals. Methods and analysisAt the intervention hospitals, patients will be stratifie…
Some Investigations on Similarity Measures Based on Absent Words
2019
In this paper we investigate similarity measures based on minimal absent words, introduced by Chairungsee and Crochemore in [1]. They make use of a length-weighted index on a sample set corresponding to the symmetric difference M(x)ΔM(y) of the minimal absent words M(x) and M(y) of two sequences x and y, respectively. We first propose a variant of this measure by choosing as a sample set a proper subset (x, y) of M(x)ΔM(y), which appears to be more appropriate for distinguishing x and y. From the algebraic point of view, we prove that (x, y) is the base of the ideal generated by M(x)ΔM(y). We then remark that such measures are able to recognize whether the sequences x and y share a common s…
Sex Differences in the Physiological Network of Healthy Young Subjects
2021
Within human physiology, systemic interactions couple physiological variables to maintain homeostasis. These interactions change according to health status and are modified by factors such as age and sex. For several physiological processes, sex-based distinctions in normal physiology are present and defined in isolation. However, new methodologies are indispensable to analyze system-wide properties and interactions with the objective of exploring differences between sexes. Here we propose a new method to construct complex inferential networks from a normalization using the clinical criteria for health of physiological variables, and the correlations between anthropometric and blood tests b…
Parent–Infant Attachment Insecurity and Emotional Eating in Adolescence: Mediation through Emotion Suppression and Alexithymia
2021
Contains fulltext : 233652.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Open Access) Emotional eating (EE), the propensity to eat in response to emotions, is thought to have its origins in the early parent-infant relationship. This study tested the hypothesis that infant attachment insecurity results in EE in adolescence through the increased use of the emotion regulation strategy suppression of emotions and subsequent alexithymia. At the age of 15 months, parent-infant attachment security (n = 129) was observed with two abbreviated attachment measures: the shortened strange situation procedure (SSSP), and the shortened attachment Q-set (S-AQS). At the age of 12 years, children completed self-report questio…
Convergence of Measures
2020
One focus of probability theory is distributions that are the result of an interplay of a large number of random impacts. Often a useful approximation can be obtained by taking a limit of such distributions, for example, a limit where the number of impacts goes to infinity. With the Poisson distribution, we have encountered such a limit distribution that occurs as the number of very rare events when the number of possibilities goes to infinity (see Theorem 3.7). In many cases, it is necessary to rescale the original distributions in order to capture the behavior of the essential fluctuations, e.g., in the central limit theorem. While these theorems work with real random variables, we will a…
A comparison of different synchronization measures in electroencephalogram during propofol anesthesia
2016
Electroencephalogram (EEG) synchronization is becoming an essential tool to describe neurophysiological mechanisms of communication between brain regions under general anesthesia. Different synchronization measures have their own properties to reflect the changes of EEG activities during different anesthetic states. However, the performance characteristics and the relations of different synchronization measures in evaluating synchronization changes during propofol-induced anesthesia are not fully elucidated. Two-channel EEG data from seven volunteers who had undergone a brief standardized propofol anesthesia were then adopted to calculate eight synchronization indexes. We computed the predi…
The influence of institutional measures and technological proficiency on university teaching through digital platforms
2012
The hyperspectral and smartphone technology in CBRNE countermeasures and defence
2016
Caused by industrial and military use as well as other sources of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosive (CBRNE) materials, the global threat of weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) remains in spite of such weapons being internationally prohibited. With these materials, industrial and transportation accidents are likely in all countries and can also be triggered by natural disasters, such as in Fukushima in 2011. In addition, governments cannot fully control the manufacturing and usage of WMDs, as extreme terrorists have access to as well as the knowledge and motivation to use such materials. Due to multiple large-scale risks, the countering of CBRNE threats requ…
Utilisation des critères non financiers pour évaluer ou piloter la performance : analyse théorique
2005
The determinants which explain the use of non-financial measures in order to evaluate or drive the performance belong to disciplinary (contractual) and knowledge-based approaches. The aim of this paper is to propose a theoretical analysis of these explanations. For the disciplinary view, we realize a typology of the existing literature. We show that others theories explain the choice of non-financial measures too. For the knowledge-based view, we propose a synthesis of the existing literature in which the link between non-financial and theoretical explanations exists. Finally, we explain why the Balanced Scorecard can be associated to the disciplinary view and the Intellectual Capital to th…
Tiesību aizsardzības pagaidu līdzekļi Starptautiskajā investīciju strīdu izšķiršanas centrā (ICSID)
2014
Anotācija Autore pēta tiesību aizsardzības pagaidu līdzekļu institūtu ICSID šķīrējtiesas procesā – tā vēsturisko attīstību un interpretāciju ICSID šķīrējtiesu praksē. Autore darba ietvaros ir veikusi visaptverošu tiesību aizsardzības pagaidu līdzekļu veidu analīzi balstoties uz empīrisku ICSID šķīrējtiesas prakses analīzi. Lai ICSID šķīrējtiesa rekomendētu tiesību aizsardzības pagaidu līdzekļus, autore izdala procesuālus un materiālus priekšnoteikumus. Procesuālo priekšnoteikumu aspektā tiek pētīta tiesību aizsardzības pagaidu līdzekļu juridiskā daba. Materiālo priekšnoteikumu aspektā tiek analizēti apstākļi, kādos var tikt pieņemts lēmums par tiesību aizsardzības pagaidu līdzekļiem. Darbā …
