Abstract Glyphosate and other polar and acidic pesticides have been particularly studied due to the concerns over widespread and intensive use. The chemical properties of these compounds necessitate use of customised methods, such as derivatisation or ion exchange chromatography. These approaches present a compatibility problem with ESI-MS due to presence of salts and non-volatile compounds. Presence of mycotoxins in ready-to-eat food and subsequent risk assessment

Abstract A study on a set of ready-to-eat meals (n = 328) based on cereals, legumes, vegetables, fish and meat was carried out to determine the natural presence of twenty-seven mycotoxins by both liquid chromatography and gas chromatography coupled mass spectrometry in tandem (MS/MS) after QuEChERS extraction. The occurrence of mycotoxins was headed by cereal samples with 35% of samples contaminated by at least one mycotoxin followed by vegetables (32%), legumes (15%) and lastly, 9% of fish and meat samples were contaminated. Fast determination of fish mineral profile. Application to Vietnamese panga fish

A methodology, based on inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry after microwave-assisted digestion with HNO3/H2O2, was developed to determine the mineral profile of panga fish samples imported from Vietnam. A total of 42 essential and toxic elements were studied in seven samples taken from the local market. Preliminary studies were focused on selecting the best wavelength and the required dilution of samples in order to provide the highest sensitivity to maximize the number of analytes to be determined without spectral or matrix interferences. All-Food-Seq (AFS): a quantifiable screen for species in biological samples by deep DNA sequencing.

Background DNA-based methods like PCR efficiently identify and quantify the taxon composition of complex biological materials, but are limited to detecting species targeted by the choice of the primer assay. Abstract A composite membrane containing 1,2-naphthoquinone-4-sulfonic acid sodium salt (NQS) embedded in an ionic liquid (IL)- polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)- tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS)- SiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) polymeric matrix is proposed.
