Studies on the Occurrence of Hydrogen Transfe…

Neue extrem deformierte (Biphenylen‐)Kohlenwasserstoff‐Gerüste

1992

New Extremely Deformed (Biphenylene)Hydrocarbon Skeletons The tetracyclic carbon skeleton 2-oxo[3](1,8)biphenylenophane (4) was synthesized by cyclization of a mixture of the bis(bromomethyl) compounds 7a, b with p-tolylsulfonylmethyl isocyanide. 2-Hydroxy[3](1,8)biphenylenophane (5) and the [3](1,8)biphenylenophane hydrocarbon 6 were obtained by reduction of 4 with LiAlH4 and NaBH4, respectively. X-ray analyses of 4 and 6 illustrate the dramatic deformation of bond lengths and angles in these molecules.

Abstract Novel chalcones that contain tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) and/or metallocene (ferrocenyl or benchrotrenyl) moieties: RC(O)CHC(CH 3 )R′ (R and/or R′  TTF: C 6 H 3 S 4 ; Fc: C 5 H 4 FeC 5 H 5 ; Bct: C 6 H 5 Cr(CO) 3 ) were prepared using TiCl 3 /Et 3 N as the condensation reagent. The 1-1 charge transfer complex with TCNQ (tetracyanoquinodimethane was obtained for the ditetrathiafulvalenic derivative (R  R′ TTF). This complex exhibits the semiconducting behaviour.

First reactions of dialkoxycarbenium tetrafluoroborates with pyrroles, 5H-dibenz[b,f]azepines, and electron-rich arenes

2009

Pyrrole (2a) and 2,5-dimethylpyrrole (2b) react with the dialkoxycarbenium tetrafluoroborates 1a-1c under kinetic control to yield the corresponding acylpyrrole derivatives. 5H-Dibenz[b,f]azepine (9a) and the 10,11-dihydro derivative 9b react only with the most electrophilic of the series of electrophiles tested, namely, diethoxycarbenium tetrafluoroborate (1a), to furnish the corresponding formyl derivatives. Similarly, in arene chemistry, the highly electron-rich N,N-dimethylaniline (13a) and 1,3,5-trimethoxybenzene (13b) are formylated by reaction with 1a.

Synthesis of Functionalized Indoles with an α-Stereogenic Ketone Moiety Through an Enantioselective Friedel-Crafts Alkylation with (E)-1,4-Diaryl-2-b…

2009

Chiral complexes of BINOL-based ligands with hafnium tert-butoxide catalyze the enantioselective Friedel-Crafts alkylation of indoles with (E)-1,4-diaryl-2-butene-1,4-diones at room temperature, with good yields and ee up to 94%. Hafnium(IV) was found to be a more effective Lewis acid than other frequently used metal ions such as titanium(IV) or zirconium(IV). Unlike the enantioselective Friedel-Crafts alkylation of indoles with α,β-unsaturated compounds where the stereogenic center is generated in the β-position to a carbonyl group, the Friedel-Crafts alkylation with 2-butene-1,4-diones described here generates an α-stereogenic center with respect to one of the carbonyl groups. This can be…

4-Alkenyl-1,2,3-thiadiazole

1986

Die Titelverbindungen 5 werden aus entsprechenden Alkylderivaten durch Bromierung/Dehydrobromierung (Weg A) oder durch Wittig-Reaktion (Weg B) dargestellt. Mit 4-Phenyl-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3,5-dion entstehen unter Erhaltung des Thiadiazolrings die Monoaddukte 12. 4-Alkenyl-1,2,3-thiadiazoles The title compounds 5 are prepared from the corresponding alkyl derivatives by bromination/dehydrobromination (route A) or by Wittig reaction (route B). 4-Phenyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3,5-dione yields the monoadducts 12 by maintenance of the thiadiazole ring.

Stereoselective Synthesis of (+)-Boronolide

2002

The delta-lactone boronolide (+)-1, a pharmacologically active, naturally occurring product, has been synthesized in enantiopure form with L-erythrulose as the chiral starting material. The key steps of the synthesis were a highly stereoselective aldol-reduction one-pot sequence, an indium-mediated diastereoselective aldehyde allylation, and a ring-closing metathesis.

PCP-bridged chalcogen-centred anions: coordination chemistry and carbon-based reactivity.

2012

Since the discovery of the stabilising influence of thiophosphinoyl groups in methanediides by Le Floch et al. (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., 2004, 43, 6382), numerous transition metal, lanthanide and actinide complexes of bis(thiophosphinoyl) carbene ligands have been investigated with an emphasis on the electronic structure and reactivity of the metal–carbon bonds. This Perspective begins by discussing main group (s- and p-block) complexes of this ligand and draws attention to differences compared to their d and f-block analogues. Investigations targeting the heavy chalcogen analogues of the Le Floch ligand have revealed an unusual carbon-based reactivity that led to the discovery of novel multi…

Titanium imido complexes stabilised by bis(iminophosphoranyl)methanide ligands: the influence of N-substituents on solution dynamics and reactivity

2014

Terminal titanium imido complexes of the general formula [Ti(N(t)Bu)Cl{CH(Ph2PNR)2}] 4 (R = Ph, (i)Pr, (t)Bu) are reported. These compounds were synthesized from the corresponding Li adducts 3 of BIPMH (bis(iminophosphoranyl)methanide) and Mountford's complex [Ti(N(t)Bu)Cl2(Py)3]. The crystal structures of two of the Ti complexes (R = Ph, (t)Bu) and two of the Li compounds (R = (i)Pr, (t)Bu) are reported. Dynamic solution NMR spectroscopy reveals a dynamic isomerisation process in the case of the Ti complex 4c (R = (t)Bu). DFT studies showed that this dynamic process comes from steric repulsion between the imido ligand and the (t)Bu N-substituents on the BIPMH ligand. Complexes 4 were teste…
