Synthesis and Spectroscopic Characterisation ofbis-Complexes of Cobalt(II), Nickel(II) and Copper(II) with N,N,N′N′-Tetraethylpyridinecarboxamide

1994

Abstract Bis-complexes of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) with tedpa (N,N,N′N′-tetraethyl-pyridinedicarboxamide) having the general formula [M(tedpa)2]X2 (X = ClO4, PF6) have been synthesized and characterised by i.r., electronic and e.p.r. spectra. The spectroscopic results suggest that the tedpa acts in these compounds as tridentate ligand through two oxygen atoms and a nitrogen (from the pyridine ring) atom. A distorted octahedral environment (MN2O4 chromophores) for the metal atoms is inferred from the spectroscopic data.

Metal complexes of sulfanilamide derivatives. Spectroscopic characterization of the dichloro disulfathiazole methanol copper(II) complex

1993

The synthesis and spectral characterization of the [Cu(Hstz)2(MeOH)Cl2] complex are described. Both polycrystalline powder EPR and single crystal EPR spectra recorded at room temperature show rhombic distortion with values of g1=2.25, g2=2.09 and g3=2.03 in agreement with a copper polyhedron, intermediate between trigonal bipyramid and square pyramidal.

Effect of Gold on the HDS Activity of Supported Palladium Catalysts

2002

Abstract The effect of gold on palladium catalysts supported on amorphous aluminosilicate was investigated in the hydrodesulfurization of thiophene. A series of bimetallic AuxPdy catalysts was prepared by the slow deposition–precipitation method with decomposition of urea. The structural and surface properties of the samples were analyzed by X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy techniques at different stages of the catalyst life. After calcination at 673 K, gold-enriched solid solutions of approximately Au90Pd10 and Au80Pd20 composition were formed for all samples of different Au/Pd ratios, along with free palladium phases. Au80Pd20 was the prevailing phase. Hydrogen treat…

Synthesis and characterization of some arsenic, antimony and bismuth complexes of 2-mercaptoaniline

1983

Abstract The complexes of arsenic, antimony and bismuth as well as phenylantimony and phenylbismuth with monoanionic 2-mercaptoaniline are reported. IR spectra are consistent with chelating behaviour of the ligand but only a weak nitrogen to metal bonding interaction is advanced. The mass spectra fragmentation pattern is also presented. It can be interpreted with the loss of successive ligand units and, as a general feature, the abundance of a given ion decreases as the mass of the metal increases. Species with one or two protons less give more intense peaks possibly corresponding to ions containing the dianionic form of the ligand.

Investigation of nitrogen and helium cryosorption on molecular sieves

1994

Abstract The helium-containing plasma exhaust gases of Tokamaks can be pumped by cryopumps using cryosorption panels coated with solid porous materials. The best pumping characteristics are achieved with activated charcoal and molecular sieves at temperatures below 10 K. In order to select the most suitable material with respect to cryosorption properties and reactivation behaviour, comparative tests on various molecular sieve types differing in cavity structure, pore size and polarity were carried out. Nitrogen and helium adsorption isotherms were determined at LN 2 temperature and at 14.5 K, respectively, expecting that an extrapolation mechanism between the adsorption properties of both …

Occurrence of pesticide residues in Spanish beeswax

2017

Beeswax from Spain was collected during 2016 to determine pesticide residues incidence. The 35 samples were divided in foundation, old combs, cappings or virgin beeswax to compare pesticide content between groups. Wax was screened for 58 pesticides or their degradation products by QuEChERS extraction and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Beeswax was uniformly contaminated with acaricides and, to a much lesser extent, with insecticide and fungicide residues. Virgin followed by cappings were less contaminated than foundation and old combs beeswax. The miticides applied in-hive had a contribution to average pesticide load higher than 95%. Compounds widely used as acaricides, …

A two-year monitoring of pesticide hazard in-hive: High honey bee mortality rates during insecticide poisoning episodes in apiaries located near agri…

2019

Pesticide residues in beebread, live and dead honey bees, together with honey bee death rate were monitored from June 2016 to June 2018 in three apiaries, located near agricultural settings and in wildlands. Dead honey bees were only collected and analyzed when significant mortality episodes occurred and pesticide content in beeswax of each experimental apiary was evaluated at the beginning of the study. Samples were extracted by a modified QuEChERS procedure and screened for pesticides residues by liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Pesticide hazard in the samples was evaluated through the hazard quotient approach (HQ). Beebread was widely contaminated with coumaphos and am…

Wear rates and wear mechanisms of alumina-based tools cutting steel at a low cutting speed

1997

Abstract Three ceramic insert materials, zirconia-toughened alumina (Al 2 O 3 –7vol%ZrO 2 ), mixed-based alumina (Al 2 O 3 –TiN–TiC–ZrO 2 ) and alumina reinforced with SiC whiskers (Al 2 O 3 –SiC w ), were used to cut AISI 1040 steel at 3.9 m s −1 . In addition, a traditional grade P10 insert (WC–TiC–Co) was tested. The lifetimes, according to KT/KM and VB B criteria, were determined using a profilometer and by image processing. The worn zones were observed with scanning electron microscopy techniques. Adhesion and plastic deformation were dominant wear mechanisms in zirconia-toughened alumina, mixed-based alumina and sintered carbide P10, both in the craters and in the cutting edges. As we…

Analysis of different Sleeve Ferrite Cores Performance according to their Dimensions

2019

Sleeve ferrite core is an EMI suppressor widely used to reduce the conductive and radiated electromagnetic noise in cables. The interconnection of different electronic systems through cables is becoming more difficult due to the hard restrictions related to EMC compliance requirements. Thereby, the research of new solutions able to provide a great attenuation ratio in a wide frequency band is a challenge. This contribution focuses on analyzing and comparing the performance of a novel sleeve ferrite solution based on a nanocrystalline (NC) structure with several materials with different compositions. This component is able to provide a high initial permeability value at the same time that ma…
