Projekts: SIA "UZVARA-LAUKS" darbības pilnveidošana piesaistot ES struktūrfondus

2016

Maģistra darba tēma ir Projekts: SIA “Uzvara – Lauks” darbības pilnveidošana piesaistot ES struktūrfondus. Projekta mērķis ir piesaistot ES atbalsta līdzekļus veikt SIA “Uzvara – Lauks” meliorācijas sistēmas pārbūvi 139.71 ha apjomā. Kopējās projekta izmaksas sastāda 229 478 EUR, ES atbalsta nauda 181 782.40 EUR, uzņēmuma ieguldījums 47 695.60 EUR. Lauksaimniecība ir pakļauta ārēja faktora – laika apstākļu ietekmei, kur tieši funkcionējošai meliorācijas sistēmai ir izšķiroša nozīme, lai lauku nebūtu pārmitri, zemi varētu efektīvi izmantot lauksaimniecības vajadzībām, iegūt augstas un kvalitatīvas ražas, tādejādi paaugstinot uzņēmuma konkurētspēju, uzlabojot saimnieciskās darbības rādītājus.

Multiproxy dietary trait reconstruction in Pleistocene Hippopotamidae from the Mediterranean islands

2019

Abstract Geographically isolated insular species face energetic restrictions and commonly evolve adaptations that distinguish them from their mainland ancestors. During the Pleistocene, several Mediterranean islands were inhabited by now extinct Hippopotamidae. They underwent diverse changes in locomotion, dentition and body size. Based on these differences, it is supposed that they occupied different ecological niches depending on their respective faunal complexes and available resources. In this paper, we assess the paleoecology of dwarfed hippopotami from Crete, Malta, Sicily and Cyprus using a novel dental multiproxy approach. We applied dental topography analysis (SAGA-GIS) to measure …

The timeline of trading frictions in the European carbon market

2012

We evaluate the quality of prices of EU-ETS, the most active European derivative market for greenhouse gas emissions allowances (EUAs). So far, this market has had two phases, a trial phase (from 2005 to 2007) and a commitment phase (from 2008 to 2012). The true value of a trial-phase EUA at the beginning of 2008 was inevitably zero because it could not be used in the commitment phase to cover emission targets. However, continued rumors of over-allocation of EUAs led to an early collapse of the market by May 2007. We study whether this market breakdown and the subsequent outbreak of the international financial crisis had a persistent effect on the quality of the commitment phase. We provide…

Sirenomelia, case report and review of the literature.

2020

We present a case of sirenomelia diagnosed in the first trimester of pregnancy. The ultrasound examination showed fused lower extremities and an anechoic structure in the lower abdomen that is clue in the early diagnosis. The postmortem study showed the existence of a single umbilical artery (vitelline artery), with an origin in the abdominal aorta. This finding not only explained the presence of a vascular steal with subsequent underdeveloped of pelvic organs, but also differentiated this condition from caudal regression syndrome.

CAMELINA SATIVA AS A CROP FOR DIVERSIFICATION OF AGRICULTURE AND AS A PRODUCER OF HIGH QUALITY OIL

2007

‘Camelina sativa’ is one of the oldest oil crops in Europe. Growing areas were reduced dramatically in 20-40-ties of the last century. Low price of rape oil and unclear composition of camelina oil were primary reasons of this process. Nevertheless, last years ‘Camelina sativa' attracted a great interest of scientists and oil processors as a crop for diversification of agriculture and, in the same time, for producing of the high quantity and quality oil for biofuel, feeding, food, and pharmacy (source of a-linolenic acid, linoleic acid and vitamins, especially E). In Latvia ‘Camelina sativa' is spread as a wild form but for the agriculture it is a new crop. The potential of me of ‘Camelina sa…

Formation of Levan from Raffinose by Levansucrase ofZymomonas mobilis

2004

Levansucrase (EC 2.4.1.10.) of Zymomonas mobilis 113S can perform the polymerisation of fructose moiety from raffinose to levan concomitantly with a release of non-catabolised melibiose into the medium. The kinetic parameters of the levansucrase-catalysed reaction provide even higher reaction velocities on raffinose as compared to sucrose, particularly at low substrate concentrations. A decreased value in the number of the average molecular mass (Mn = 1693 kDa), an increased intrinsic viscosity (η = 49.47 cm3/g), and a diminished Huggin's constant (K' = 0.67) are intrinsic to the levan synthesis from raffinose, indicating certain structural peculiarities compared to a polysaccharide obtaine…

Activation of bee venom phospholipase A2 through a peptide-enzyme complex

1995

AbstractPhospholipase A2 activation by membrane-bound peptides was investigated in order to understand the role of the membrane-induced conformation on activation, and to examine the occurrence of a peptide-enzyme complex at the lipid/water interface. For the peptides studies, bee venom phospholipase A2 was stimulated regardless of the membrane-bound conformation (α-helix, β-sheet or random coil). Using antisera raised against melittin, we were able to demonstrate the occurrence of a calcium-dependent complex involving the enzyme, phospholipid substrate, and peptide.
