Observation ofJ/ψpResonances Consistent with Pentaquark States inΛb0→J/ψK−pDecays

2015

Observations of exotic structures in the J/ψp channel, that we refer to as pentaquark-charmonium states, in Λ0b→J/ψK−p decays are presented. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 3/fb acquired with the LHCb detector from 7 and 8 TeV pp collisions. An amplitude analysis is performed on the three-body final-state that reproduces the two-body mass and angular distributions. To obtain a satisfactory fit of the structures seen in the J/ψp mass spectrum, it is necessary to include two Breit-Wigner amplitudes that each describe a resonant state. The significance of each of these resonances is more than 9 standard deviations. One has a mass of 4380±8±29 MeV and a width of 205±1…

Precision Measurement of theX(3872)Mass inJ/ψπ+π−Decays

2009

We present an analysis of the mass of the X(3872) reconstructed via its decay to J/psi pi(+)pi(-) using 2.4 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity from p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV, collected with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The possible existence of two nearby mass states is investigated. Within the limits of our experimental resolution the data are consistent with a single state, and having no evidence for two states we set upper limits on the mass difference between two hypothetical states for different assumed ratios of contributions to the observed peak. For equal contributions, the 95% confidence level upper limit on the mass difference is 3.6 MeV/c(2). Un…

Measurement of the Polarization of theΥ(1S)andΥ(2S)States inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2008

We present a study of the polarization of the $\Upsilon(1S)$ and $\Upsilon(2S)$ states using a $1.3 $ fb$^{-1}$ data sample collected by the D0 experiment in 2002--2006 during Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We measure the polarization parameter $\alpha=(\sigma_{T}-2\sigma_{L})/(\sigma_{T}+2\sigma_{L})$, where $\sigma_{T}$ and $\sigma_{L}$ are the transversely and longitudinally polarized components of the production cross section, as a function of the transverse momentum ($p_{T}^{\Upsilon}$) for the $\Upsilon(1S)$ and $\Upsilon(2S)$. Significant $p_{T}^{\Upsilon}$-dependent longitudinal polarization is observed for the $\Upsilon(1S)$. A comparison with theoretical models is prese…

Diabatic description of charmoniumlike mesons

2020

We apply the diabatic formalism, first introduced in molecular physics, to the description of heavy-quark mesons. In this formalism the dynamics is completely described by a diabatic potential matrix whose elements can be derived from unquenched lattice QCD studies of string breaking. For energies far below the lowest open flavor meson-meson threshold, the resulting diabatic approach reduces to the well-known Born-Oppenheimer approximation where heavy-quark meson masses correspond to energy levels in an effective quark-antiquark potential. For energies close below or above that threshold, where the Born-Oppenheimer approximation fails, this approach provides a set of coupled Schr\"{o}dinger…

Meson transition form factor measurements with A2

2019

Meson transition form factors (TFF) describe the electromagnetic structure of mesons and hence provide an important tool for the understanding of the meson-photon interactions. The A2 experiment at MAMI provides a high yield of light mesons produced in photo-induced reactions on protons, which makes the experiment ideal for precision measurements of meson TFFs via studies of meson decays. The A2 collaboration has recently published results of TFFs obtained from measurements of Dalitz decays of the π0 and η mesons as well as the ω → π0e+e− decay. For the study of the η′ Dalitz decay, data has been collected and is being analysed. As a ongoing endeavour, A2 is performing a dedicated measureme…

Determination of the absolute branching fractions of D0→K−e+νe and D+→K¯0e+νe

2021

Using 2.93 fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected with the BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773~GeV, we measure the absolute branching fractions of the decays $D^0\to K^-e^+\nu_e$ and $D^+\to \bar K^0 e^+\nu_e$ to be $(3.574\pm0.031_{\rm stat}\pm 0.025_{\rm syst})\%$ and $(8.70\pm0.14_{\rm stat}\pm 0.16_{\rm syst})\%$, respectively. Starting with the process $e^+e^-\to D\bar{D}$, a new reconstruction method is employed to select events that contain candidates for both $D\to \bar Ke^+\nu_e$ and $\bar D\to Ke^-\bar \nu_e$ decays. The branching fractions reported in this work are consistent within uncertainties with previous BESIII measurements that selected events conta…

Cold Nuclear Matter Effects onJ/ψYields as a Function of Rapidity and Nuclear Geometry ind+ACollisions atsNN=200  GeV

2011

We present measurements of J/psi yields in d + Au collisions at root S-NN = 200 GeV recorded by the PHENIX experiment and compare them with yields in p + p collisions at the same energy per nucleon-nucleon collision. The measurements cover a large kinematic range in J/psi rapidity (-2.2 < y < 2.4) with high statistical precision and are compared with two theoretical models: one with nuclear shadowing combined with final state breakup and one with coherent gluon saturation effects. In order to remove model dependent systematic uncertainties we also compare the data to a simple geometric model. The forward rapidity data are inconsistent with nuclear modifications that are linear or exponentia…

Evidence for Simultaneous Production ofJ/ψandϒMesons

2016

We report evidence for the simultaneous production of $J/\psi$ and $\Upsilon$ mesons in 8.1 fb$^{-1}$ of data collected at $\sqrt{s}=$1.96 TeV by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab $p \bar p$ Tevatron Collider. Events with these characteristics are expected to be produced predominantly by gluon-gluon interactions. In this analysis, we extract the effective cross section characterizing the initial parton spatial distribution, $\sigma_{eff}=2.2\pm 0.7\mbox{(stat)} \pm 0.9 \mbox{(syst)} ~\mbox{mb}$.

Measurement of theI=1/2Kπ S-wave amplitude from Dalitz plot analyses ofηc→KK¯πin two-photon interactions

2016

We study the processes γγ→K^0_SK^±π^∓ and γγ→K^+K^−π^0 using a data sample of 519  fb^(−1) recorded with the BABAR detector operating at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e− collider at center-of-mass energies at and near the Υ(nS) (n=2, 3, 4) resonances. We observe ηc decays to both final states and perform Dalitz plot analyses using a model-independent partial wave analysis technique. This allows a model-independent measurement of the mass-dependence of the I=1/2 Kπ S-wave amplitude and phase. A comparison between the present measurement and those from previous experiments indicates similar behavior for the phase up to a mass of 1.5  GeV/c^2. In contrast, the amplitudes show very marked…

Search for Second-Class Currents inτ−→ωπ−ντ

2009

We report an analysis of tau- decaying into omega.pi-.nu_tau with omega -> pi+pi-pi0 using a data sample containing nearly 320 million tau pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II B-Factory. We find no evidence for second-class currents and we set an upper limit of 0.69% at 90% confidence level for the fraction of second-class currents in this decay mode.
