Hidden charmNandΔresonances with heavy-quark symmetry
2013
c and one c quarks). We analyze several possible sectors and, for the sector with zero net charm, we write down the most general Lagrangian consistent with SU(3) and heavy quark spin symmetry. We explicitly study theN andstates, which are produced from theS-wave interaction of pseudoscalar and vector mesons with 1/2 + and 3/2 + baryons within the charmless and strangeless hidden charm sector. We predict seven odd parityN-like and five -like states with masses around 4GeV, most of them as bound states. These states form heavy-quark spin multiplets, which are almost degenerate in mass. The predicted new resonances definitely cannot be accommodated by quark models with three constituent quark…
correction to ƒB
1991
Abstract The 1/m corrections to the B-meson decay constant ƒB (and the D-meson decay constant ƒD) of the heavy quark effective theory are calculated in the Green function approach. The corrections are found to be sensitive to the difference of the meson mass mB and the heavy quark mass mb. For mb=4.81 GeV we obtain a 100% correction to the heavy quark limit mb=mB. The scaling law of the ratio ƒB/ƒD is, however, quite well satisfied because of cancellations. For reasonable values of quark masses we obtain ƒ B = (130±20) MeV and ƒ D = (170±10) MeV .
Bottom quark mass from QCD sum rules for the υ system
1999
Abstract The talk presents an update of the bottom quark mass determination from QCD moment sum rules for the ϒ system by the authors [1]. Employing the MS scheme, we fund mb(mb) = 4.19 ± 0.06 GeV. The differences to our previous analysis will be discussed and we comment on the determination of th pole mass for the bottom quark.
Heavy-strange meson decay constants in the continuum limit of quenched QCD
2007
We improve a previous quenched result for heavy-light pseudoscalar meson decay constants with the light quark taken to be the strange quark. A finer lattice resolution (a ~ 0.05 fm) in the continuum limit extrapolation of the data computed in the static approximation is included. We also give further details concerning the techniques used in order to keep the statistical and systematic errors at large lattice sizes L/a under control. Our final result, obtained by combining these data with determinations of the decay constant for pseudoscalar mesons around the D_s, follows nicely the qualitative expectation of the 1/m-expansion with a (relative) 1/m-term of about -0.5 GeV/m_PS. At the physic…
Charmonium resonances on the lattice
2018
The nature of resonances and excited states near decay thresholds is encoded in scattering amplitudes, which can be extracted from single-particle and multiparticle correlators in finite volumes. Lattice calculations have only recently reached the precision required for a reliable study of such correlators. The distillation method represents a significant improvement insofar as it simplifies quark contractions and allows one to easily extend the operator basis used to construct interpolators. We present preliminary results on charmonium bound states and resonances on the Nf=2+1 CLS ensembles. The long term goal of our investigation is to understand the properties of the X resonances that do…
On the temperature dependence of the electrical conductivity in hot quenched lattice QCD
2011
Extending our recent work, we report on a calculation of the vector current correlation function for light valence quarks in the deconfined phase of quenched QCD in the temperature range 1.16Tc<T<2.98Tc. After performing a systematic analysis of the in fluence of cut-off effects on light quark meson correlators using clover improved Wilson fermions, we discuss resulting constraints on the electrical conductivity in a quark gluon plasma.
Semileptonic B ->pi decays from an Omnes improved nonrelativistic constituent quark model
2005
The semileptonic $B\to \pi l^+ \nu_l$ decay is studied starting from a simple quark model which includes the influence of the $B^*$ pole. To extend the predictions of a nonrelativistic constituent quark model from its region of applicability near $q^2_{\rm max}=(m_B-m_\pi)^2$ to all $q^2$ values accessible in the physical decay, we use a novel multiply-subtracted Omn\`es dispersion relation, which considerably diminishes the form factor dependence on the elastic $\pi B \to \pi B$ scattering amplitudes at high energies. By comparison to the experimental branching fraction we extract $|V_{ub}| = 0.0034 \pm 0.0003 ({\rm exp}) \pm 0.0007 ({\rm theory})$. To further test our framework, we also s…
Measurement of the chi(b) (3 P) mass and of the relative rate of chi(b1) (1 P) and chi(b2) (1 P) production
2014
The production of $\chi_b$ mesons in proton-proton collisions is studied using a data sample collected by the LHCb detector, at centre-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s}=7$ and $8$ TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb$^{-1}$. The $\chi_b$ mesons are identified through their decays to $\Upsilon(1S)\gamma$ and $\Upsilon(2S)\gamma$ using photons that converted to $e^+e^-$ pairs in the detector. The $\chi_b(3P)$ meson mass, and the relative prompt production rate of $\chi_{b1}(1P)$ and $\chi_{b2}(1P)$ mesons as a function of the $\Upsilon(1S)$ transverse momentum in the $\chi_b$ rapidity range 2.0< $y$<4.5, are measured. Assuming a mass splitting between the $\chi_{b1}(3P)$ an…

DETERMINATION OF ALPHA(S) FOR B-QUARKS AT THE Z(0) RESONANCE
1993
The strong coupling constant for b quarks has been determined, and its flavour independence, as predicted by QCD, investigated. The analysis involved events with lepton candidates selected from approximately 356 000 hadronic decays of the Z0, collected by the DELPHI detector at LEP in 1990 and 199 1. A method based on a direct comparison of the three-jet fraction in a b enriched sample, selected by requiring leptons with large momenta and transverse momenta, to that of the entire hadronic sample, illustrated the significant effect of the b quark mass on the multi-jet cross section, and verified the flavour independence of the strong coupling constant to an accuracy of +/- 6%. A second proce…
