Experimental and theoretical study using DFT method for the competitive adsorption of two cationic dyes from wastewaters

Abstract The adsorption of cationic dyes, Basic Yellow (BY28) and Methylene Blue (MB) on a new activated carbon from medlar species were studied in both single and binary system. Some experimental parameters, namely, pH, amount of adsorbent and contact time are studied. Quantum chemical results indicate that the adsorption efficiency was directly related to the dye electrophilicity power. Some theorical parameters were calculated and proved that MB is more electrophilic than BY28, than greatest interaction with surface sites. Supravital Methylene Blue Staining of Piloneural Complexes of Common Fur Hair Follicles in the Rat

Light microscopic observations employing supravital methylene blue staining are presented for piloneural complexes of common fur hairs in the mystacial pad of the rat snout. The investigation revealed anatomical details of piloneural complexes belonging to follicles of both vellus and guard hairs. In the methylene blue stained preparations, different types of palisade-like lanceolate nerve fiber endings could be discriminated. Supravital Uptake of Cationic Dyes by Mast Cell Granules: A Light and Electron Microscope Study

Methylene blue and neutral red were selected for staining mast cell granules by supravital injections. A new technique was applied for embedding in paraffin and Araldite without dislocation or loss of dye. Stabilization and electron microscopic identification of the dyes were achieved by transforming them into electron-dense precipitates using phosphomolybdic acid dissolved in a paraformaldehyde-glutaraldehyde mixture to preserve the ultrastructure of the tissues. Light microscopic observations employing intravital methylene blue staining and impregnation by the zinc iodide-osmium tetroxide technique are presented for intraepidermal nerve fibre endings of the intervibrissal fur in the mystacial pad of the rat snout. Both procedures revealed anatomical details of the intraepidermal nerve fibre plexus in epidermal hillocks often located very close to the mouths of hairs. These nerve fibres appeared to resemble those described in previous immunohistochemical studies as cluster or bush endings.
