A Headful of T4 Coliphage DNA Packaged to Fasces-Like Globules in Fractal Models

We present a new model for T4 DNA packaging based on fractal considerations. The proposed model is based on electron microscopic observations of spread and packaged DNA. The model takes into account enzymatically and unidirectionally driven packaging, and quick release of the DNA during infection. We also consider the different biochemical reactions of the packaging process.

Two Cyclotella species were found during the electron microscopic investigation of core samples from Lake La Cruz. Cyclotella distinguenda Hustedt was subdominant in the layers 80-110 cms and C. delicatula Hustedt was frequent and abundant in the layers 20-180 cms. SEM studies revealed an interesting variation in their valve structure elements. Analyses of the morphological characteristics of these species on the basis of SEM micrographs (55 photos were taken from C. distinguenda and 95 from C. delicatula) was made it possible to complete their description. Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare disorder characterized by high proliferation of Langerhans dendritic cells. LCH is a solitary or multifocal disease that primarily involves bone tissue and often affects children and young men. Central odontogenic fibroma (COF) is a rare benign odontogenic tumor derived from the dental ectomesenchymal tissues. A 16-year-old Caucasian female patient was referred by her dentist for a radiolucent asymptomatic area associated with the crown of the impacted lower right third molar. A preliminary diagnosis of a follicular cyst was supposed. The lesion was surgically removed under general anesthesia together with the impacted tooth.
