Novel GaN Based Solid State Power Amplifiers, Results, Advances and Comparison with Vacuum Tubes Based Microwave Power Modules
2018
Power amplifiers based on vacuum tubes or solid state are key items in a number of systems. Solid state technology is growing up for some applications and it may be complementary to the vacuum technology. This paperwork presents SSPA operational principles and performance. The GaN technology available in the market, the technology roadmap, a comparison with the vacuum tubes are introduced
Langevin Approach to understand the Noise in Microwave Transistors
2004
A noise analysis procedure for microwave devices based on Langevin approach is presented. The device is represented by its equivalent circuit with the internal noise sources included as stochastic processes. Fromthe circuit network analysis a stochastic integral equation for the output voltage is derived and fromits power spectrumthe noise figure as a function of the operating frequency is obtained. The theoretical results have been compared with experimental data obtained by the characterization of an HEMT transistor series (NE20283A, by NEC) from6 to 18 GHz at a low noise bias point. The reported procedure exhibits good accuracy, within the typical uncertainty range of any experimental de…

Improvement of interaction in and properties of PMMA-MWNT nanocomposites through microwave assisted acid treatment of MWNT
2013
Soluble derivatives of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNT) embedded in a poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) matrix forming thick, homogeneous and transparent nanocomposites, were prepared and characterized. A new photo-assisted method using microwaves, to purify the MWNTs from amorphous carbon and synthesis catalyst clusters, was tested in a sulphonitric mix. This method shortened the processing time compared to other methods. Pristine and functionalized MWNTs were introduced into the MMA, then in situ photo-polymerized. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffractometry (XRD), as well as Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR), Raman and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy w…
Time dispersion characterization for UWB mobile radio channels between 3.1 and 10.6 GHz
2007
In this paper, a characterization of the UWB mobile radio channel time dispersion is presented. The results provided were obtained from a measurement campaign carried out in a typical indoor office scenario in the band from 3.1 to 10.6 GHz. Time dispersion metrics as delay spread, coherence bandwidth, delay interval and delay window, in both line-of-sight (LOS) and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) conditions are provided.
Synthesis of Pyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrimidine Enantiomers via Domino Ring-Closure followed by Retro Diels-Alder Protocol
2017
From 2-aminonorbornene hydroxamic acids, a simple and efficient method for the preparation of pyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrimidine enantiomers is reported. The synthesis is based on domino ring-closure followed by microwave-induced retro Diels-Alder (RDA) protocols, where the chirality of the desired products is transferred from norbornene derivatives. The stereochemistry of the synthesized compounds was proven by X-ray crystallography. The absolute configuration of the product is determined by the configuration of the starting amino hydroxamic acid. peerReviewed
Characterization of phenolic pellets for ESR dosimetry in photon beam radiotherapy
2017
This work deals with the dosimetric features of a particular phenolic compound (IRGANOX 1076 ® ) for dosimetry of clinical photon beams by using electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. After the optimization of the ESR readout parameters (namely modulation amplitude and microwave power) to maximise the signal without excessive spectrum distortions, basic dosimetric properties of laboratory-made phenolic dosimeters in pellet form, such as reproducibility, dose–response, sensitivity, linearity and dose rate dependence were investigated. The dosimeters were tested by measuring the depth dose profile of a 6 MV photon beam. A satisfactory intra-batch reproducibility of the ESR signal of the …
Synthesis and application of β-substituted Pauson-Khand adducts: trifluoromethyl as a removable steering group.
2013
The reaction between alkynes (I) and norbornadiene (II) affords the β-substituted Pauson—Khand adducts (III) as single regioisomers and the trifluoromethyl steering group can be easily removed in the presence of DBU and water.
On the performance of a linearized dual parallel Mach Zehnder electro-optic modulator
2014
The performance of a dual parallel differential Mach-Zehnder modulator broadband linearization architecture is analysed. This study provides experimental and analytical results showing an enhancement up to 20 dB in the 3rd-order intermodulation distortion factor at 5 GHz using RF and optical asymmetrical feeding factors.
Microwave-Assisted Tandem Organocatalytic Peptide-Coupling Intramolecular aza-Michael Reaction: α,β-UnsaturatedN-Acyl Pyrazoles as Michael Acceptors
2014
Conjugated N-acyl pyrazoles have been successfully employed in the organocatalytic enantioselective intramolecular aza-Michael reaction as ester surrogates. Bifunctional squaramides under microwave irradiation provided the best results in this transformation. Furthermore, this protocol has been combined with a peptide-coupling reaction in a tandem sequence. The final products were easily converted into the corresponding ethyl esters.
