Chemical and Microbiological Characterization for PDO Labelling of Typical East Piedmont (Italy) Salami
2015
This study is focused on the characterisation of typical salami produced in Alessandria province (North West of Italy). Seventeen small or medium salami producers from this area were involved in the study and provided the samples investigated. The aim is double and consists in obtaining a screening of the characteristics of different products and following their evolution along ripening. The study involved five types of typical salami that were characterised for aroma components and nutritional features. This approach could provide a basis for a possible PDO or PGI label request. Principal Component Analysis and cluster analysis were used as multivariate statistical tools for data treatment…
Propriétés et performances de phosphines ferrocéniques dans le couplage C-O, C-S et C-N : nouvelles méthodologies de synthèse au palladium
2012
Multidentate ligands usually show great activities in low loading organometallic catalysis in palladium. Among these ligands, the use of ferrocenyl polyphosphane ligands give interesting results. Robust palladium-ferrocenyl triphosphane catalytic systems have permitted to obtain biarylamines and aryl-heteroaryl ethers in the presence of low catalytic loadings. DFT studies on catalytic cycle during formation of aryl-heteroaryl ethers were carried out. The presence of third phosphino group stabilizes a transition state which enhances the rate of the reductive elimination. Triarylamines were obtained with ferrocenyl diphosphane in the presence of 2 mol% of palladium loading. Moderate to excell…
Pharmacological blockade of the fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) alters neural proliferation, apoptosis and gliosis in the rat hippocampus, hypothal…
2015
Endocannabinoids participate in the control of neurogenesis, neural cell death and gliosis. The pharmacological effect of the fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) inhibitor URB597, which limits the endocannabinoid degradation, was investigated in the present study. Cell proliferation (phospho-H3(+) or BrdU(+) cells) of the main adult neurogenic zones as well as apoptosis (cleaved caspase-3(+)), astroglia (GFAP(+)), and microglia (Iba1(+) cells) were analyzed in the hippocampus, hypothalamus and striatum of rats intraperitoneally treated with URB597 (0.3 mg/kg/day) at one dose/4-days resting or 5 doses (1 dose/day). Repeated URB597 treatment increased the plasma levels of the N-acylethanolamine…
Vibronic structures in the visible luminescence of silica nanoparticles
2014
Time resolved photoluminescence investigation in air and in vacuum atmosphere of the visible luminescence related to silica surface defects is here reported. Two contributions can be singled out: one, observed both in air and in vacuum, is the well-known blue band, peaked around 2.8 eV decaying in ∼5 ns; the other, only observed in vacuum, is a structured emission in the violet range characterized by two vibronic progressions spaced 1370 cm−1 and 360 cm−1 decaying in ∼100 ns. In contrast with previous attribution, the well distinguishable spectroscopic properties together with the observation of the effects induced by the interaction with nitrogen allow to state that the emission bands orig…
Determination of alkylamines in atmospheric aerosol particles: a comparison of gas chromatography–mass spectrometry and ion chromatography approaches
2014
Abstract. In recent years low molecular weight alkylamines have been recognized to play an important role in particle formation and growth in the lower atmosphere. However, major uncertainties are associated with their atmospheric processes, sources and sinks, mostly due to the lack of ambient measurements and the difficulties in accurate quantification of alkylamines at trace level. In this study, we present the evaluation and optimization of two analytical approaches, i.e., gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and ion chromatography (IC), for the determination of alkylamines in aerosol particles. Alkylamines were converted to carbamates through derivatization with isobutyl chlorof…
Muscarine receptor types mediating autoinhibition of acetylcholine release and sphincter contraction in the guinea-pig iris.
1990
The potencies of several muscarine receptor antagonists in blocking either the autoinhibition of acetylcholine release or the muscarinic contraction of the sphincter muscle upon acetylcholine release were investigated in the guinea-pig iris. The agonist at pre- or postjunctional muscarine receptors was acetylcholine released upon field stimulation (5.5 Hz, 2 min) of the irides preloaded with 14C-choline. The stimulation-evoked 14C-overflow was doubled in the presence of atropine 0.1 mumol/l but unaffected by the agonist (+/-)-methacholine (50 mumol/l). Thus, under the present stimulation conditions, the autoinhibition of acetylcholine release on the guinea-pig iris cholinergic nerves was ne…
Storage and release of false transmitters after infusion of (+)- and (?)-?-methyldopamine
1971
Rabbits were given an infusion of 10 mg/kg (−)- or 30 mg/kg (+)-α-methyldopamine and killed after 135 min. The noradrenaline content of the heart was decreased to 26±5 and 34±2%, respectively, of the control value. After infusion of the (+)-isomer the missing noradrenaline was replaced by (−)-α-methylnoradrenaline. Electrical stimulation of the sympathetic nerves or infusion of acetylcholine plus atropine caused an output of noradrenaline and (−)-α-methylnoradrenaline from the isolated heart. The two amines were released in the same proportion as they were stored in the heart and the total output of both amines equalled the output of noradrenaline from control hearts. Nerve stimulation caus…
Detection of the synthetic drug 4-fluoroamphetamine (4-FA) in serum and urine.
2010
Abstract 4-Fluoroamphetamine (4-FA) was detected in the blood and urine of two individuals suspected for driving under the influence (DUI). The test for amphetamines in urine subjected to immunoassay screening using the CEDIA DAU assay proved positive. Further investigations revealed a 4-FA cross-reactivity of about 6% in the CEDIA amphetamine assay. 4-FA was qualitatively detected in a general unknown screening for drugs using GC/MS in full scan mode. No other drugs or fluorinated phenethylamines were detected. A validated GC/MS method was established in SIM mode for serum analysis of 4-FA with a limit of detection (LOD) of 1 ng/mL and a lower limit of quantification (LLOQ) of 5 ng/mL. Int…
Clathrin-mediated constitutive endocytosis of PIN auxin efflux carriers in Arabidopsis.
2007
SummaryEndocytosis is an essential process by which eukaryotic cells internalize exogenous material or regulate signaling at the cell surface [1]. Different endocytic pathways are well established in yeast and animals; prominent among them is clathrin-dependent endocytosis [2, 3]. In plants, endocytosis is poorly defined, and no molecular mechanism for cargo internalization has been demonstrated so far [4, 5], although the internalization of receptor-ligand complexes at the plant plasma membrane has recently been shown [6]. Here we demonstrate by means of a green-to-red photoconvertible fluorescent reporter, EosFP [7], the constitutive endocytosis of PIN auxin efflux carriers [8] and their …
The use of imidazolium group-containing Bronsted acids for masspectrometric determination of biogenic amines in alcoholic beverages
2017
