Photo-induced chemiluminescence-based determination of diphenamid by using a multicommuted flow system
2007
This manuscript deals with the application of molecular connectivity calculations to predict the photo-induced chemiluminescent behaviour of the family of herbicides grouped as amides. Several compounds of this group were theoretically studied by means of a general discriminant equation formerly obtained, being 18 of them (plus eight from the chloroacetanilide sub-group) predicted with a high probability as photo-induced chemiluminescent. Empirical confirmation of the chemiluminometric behaviour was performed with some few commercially available amide herbicides. On the basis of these results, a new multicommutation-photo-chemiluminescent method is proposed for the determination of the diph…
Bio-metal-organic frameworks for molecular recognition and sorbent extraction of hydrophilic vitamins followed by their determination using HPLC-UV
2020
A bio-metal-organic framework (bio-MOF) derived from the amino acid L-serine has been prepared in bulk form and evaluated as sorbent for the molecular recognition and extraction of B-vitamins. The functional pores of bio-MOF exhibit high amounts of hydroxyl groups jointly directing other supramolecular host-guest interactions thus providing the recognition of B-vitamins in fruit juices and energy drinks. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies reveal the specific B-vitamin binding sites and the existence of multiple hydrogen bonds between these target molecules and the framework. It offered unique snapshots to accomplish an efficient capture of these solutes in complex aqueous matrices. Fo…
A bioluminescence technique for quantitative and structure-associated imaging of pyruvate
2006
A novel bioluminescence assay has been developed for measuring pyruvate within sections of snap-frozen tissue in a quantitative manner as well as with a spatial resolution on a microscopical level. The assay was verified via HPLC and two independent photometric tests. The novel assay makes it possible to determine pyruvate concentrations in cryosections in the range of 0-5.0 micromol/g tissue (dry weight). Based on the analysis of samples of given pyruvate concentrations, the assay exhibits a recovery with a deviationor =15%. The minimal detectable amount was 0.02 pmol based on a 20 microm thick tissue section with an area of 1 cm(2). Combination of the already established imaging biolumine…
Addition of dianions of carboxylic acids to imines. Influence of the acid in the outcome of the reaction
2009
The addition of different carboxylic acids dianions to N-benzylidenebenzeneamine have been studied. The outcome of the reaction depends on the acid. Saturated ones lead to β-aminoacids with good yields and syn-selectivity whereas α,β-unsaturated ones lead to α− and γ− regioisomers with a regioselectivity that depends on the steric hindrance around the reactive centre. From some of these unsaturated acids, polyunsaturated carboxylic acids can be obtained as a change in the reaction conditions lead to the in situ elimination of aniline. From o-methyl aromatic acids δ-aminoacids are isolated with uneven results. Those derived from six member arene carboxylic acids give, on standing, dihydro-2-…
A method for the determination of dimethylamine in air by collection on solid support sorbent with subsequent derivatization and spectrophotometric a…
2005
A new method for dimethylamine determination in air is reported. The proposed assay is based on the employment of C18-packed solid phase extraction cartridges for sampling. The retained amine is then derivatized inside the cartridges with the reagent 1,2-naphthoquinone-4-sulfonate. By observing the coloured area of the cartridge, a semiquantitative estimation of the amine can be made. It was also possible to distinguish between primary and secondary amines by visual inspection. Quantitative tests entailed desorption from the cartridges of the derivatives formed, and measurement of the absorbance of the collected extracts. The selected conditions were applied to quantify dimethylamine up to …
Sensitive determination of aliphatic amines in water by high-performance liquid chromatography with chemiluminescence detection.
2004
A sensitive method has been developed for liquid chromatographic determination of short aliphatic amines in water samples. Analytes are preconcentrated and dansylated on solid sorbents (C18 solid-phase extraction cartridges). The dansyl derivatives are chromatographed and post-column mixed with peroxyoxalate (TCPO) and H2O2 in order to perform chemiluminescence detection. Optimal results have been obtained using a sample volume of 5 ml. The method has been applied to the quantification or screening of several aliphatic amines: methylamine, ethylamine, butylamine, diethylamine, pentylamine and hexylamine. The screening procedure has been developed including also polyamines (putrescine, cadav…
Fabrication of silver nanoparticles by a diethylene triamine-hyaluronic acid derivative and use as antibacterial coating
2022
In this work a synthetic protocol for the functionalization of hyaluronic acid with diethylenetriamine (DETA) was standardized. HA-DETA derivatives were characterized by NMR and proton carbon correlation analysis HSQC and HMBC to confirm chemical structure. A selected derivative was used to set up a green fabrication procedure for HA-DETA capped silver nanoparticles with the aim to achieve a polymeric based coating with potential application in the treatment of medical devices associated infections. Data from UV-visible spectroscopy, electron scanning and transmission microscope (STEM), photoelectric spectroscopy (XPS) and rheological characterization were combined to characterize the HA-DE…
Photoluminescence in Carborane–Stilbene Triads : A Structural, Spectroscopic, and Computational Study
2016
A set of triads in which o- and m-carborane clusters are bonded to two stilbene units through Ccluster -CH2 bonds was synthesized, and their structures were confirmed by X-ray diffraction. A study on the influence of the o- and m- isomers on the absorption and photoluminescence properties of the stilbene units in solution revealed no charge-transfer contributions in the lowest excited state, as confirmed by (TD)DFT calculations. The presence of one or two B-I groups in m-carborane derivatives does not affect the emission properties of the stilbenes in solution, probably due to the rather large distance between the iodo substituents and the fluorophore. Nevertheless, a significant redshift o…

Unraveling the strain state of GaN down to single nanowires
2016
International audience; GaN nanowires (NWs) grown by molecular beam epitaxy are usually assumed free of strain in spite of different individual luminescence signatures. To ascertain this usual assumption, the c/a of a GaN NW assembly has been characterized using both X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy, with scaling the measurement down to the single NW. Free-standing single NWs have been observed free of strain-defined as [c/a = (c/a)(o)]/(c/a)(o)-within the experimental accuracy amounting to 1.25 x 10(-4). However, in the general case, a significant portion of the NWs is coalesced, generating an average tensile strain that can be partly released by detaching the NWs from their substr…
