HEART MOBILE LEARNING

2018

The widespread diffusion of mobile technologies in today’s society and the technological developments of recent years offers new opportunities for learning providing innovative techniques and tools in education. In this paper, we will introduce HeARt, an augmented reality mobile Learning system to support university medical students in their learning activities during an anatomy laboratory. Students usually use, in their daily anatomy laboratory, a physical human heart model to investigate and learn about heart anatomy. Even though these models are perfect education tools to observe details and touch "with hands" all the heart sections, they need a supplementary encyclopaedia to learn all h…

Augmented Reality Gamification for Human Anatomy

2019

This paper focuses on the use of Augmented Reality technologies in relation to the introduction of game design elements to support university medical students in their learning activities during a human anatomy laboratory. In particular, the solution we propose will provide educational contents visually connected to the physical organ, giving also the opportunity to handle a 3D physical model that is a perfect reproduction of a real human organ.

Mobiiliopetuksen käyttömahdollisuuksia : oppilaiden omien mobiililaitteiden käyttö peruskoulun alakoulun opetuksessa

2015

Muutaman viime vuoden aikana mobiililaitteiden käyttö kouluissa on yleistynyt. Tämä on osittain aiheuttanut ristiriitaista keskustelua laitteiden käytöstä opetuksessa. Osa opettajista on ottanut mobiililaitteet opetuskäyttöön innokkaasti. Tutkimus teht…

Learning Research Methods and Processes via Sharing Experience in a BLOG

2006

The goal is to increase knowledge about different research methods that have been employed in the information technology field by supporting the information exchange, collaboration, and cooperation between researchers. Well-designed, well-told stories can help others learn from past situations to respond more effectively in future situation. A blog is presented where PhD students and researchers are invited to collaborate by providing their stories, reading and commenting existing stories. This infrastructure allows researchers and PhD students to write the contents posing questions and finding answers on the relationship between research process and research results.

A Phenomenographic Research Study of Students’ Conceptions of Mobile Learning: An Example From Higher Education

2019

This article aims to identify different ways of using mobile devices in students’ learning in higher education. This qualitative research presents the findings from a phenomenographic research of students’ conceptions of mobile learning (m-learning) in higher education. A cohort of 16 students from four universities of Bangladesh took part in semi-structured interviews to explore their in-depth understandings and experiences of m-learning. The findings indicate that university students perceived five qualitatively different ways of using mobile devices in their learning: a medium for communication; a medium for management of learning materials; a tool for effective learning; a means for co…

The Nature Tour Mobile Learning Application. Implementing the Mobile Application in Finnish Early Childhood Education Settings

2014

This paper explores the process and impact of the implementation of the Nature Tour mobile learning application in Finnish early childhood education settings. The interest is to explore whether the concept of Nature Tour mobile application meets the needs of early childhood education in field trips. The idea of the mobile application is to help recording and comparing nature observations as well as to arouse children’s interest in nature. The feasibility of the mobile application was evaluated through a theoretical framework, which includes the core aspects of mobile learning. The evaluation framework consists of two levels titled core level and medium level. Three of the core level aspects…
