Past, present and future of 68Ge/68Ga generators.
2013
(68)Ga represents one of the very early radionuclides applied to positron emission tomography (PET) imaging at a time when even the wording PET itself was not established. Today it faces a renaissance in terms of new (68)Ge/(68)Ga radionuclide generators, sophisticated (68)Ga radiopharmaceuticals, and state-of-the-art clincial diagnoses via positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT). Thanks to the pioneering achievement of radiochemists in Obninsk, Russia, a new type of (68)Ge/(68)Ga generators became commercially available in the first years of the 21st century. Generator eluates based on hydrochloric acid provided "cationic" (68)Ga instead of "inert" (68)Ga-complexes, openi…
À la recherche des maillages communaux d'antan. Présentation du projet ANR COMMUNES et de quelques résultats préliminaires
2020
The COMMUNES project aims: 1) to produce the first H-GIS in the world providing annualised boundary data for all French municipalities from the Revolution to the present day. Each spatial unit will include population data and metrics of access to networks of transport; 2) to develop a multimodal model of transport to allow the dynamic analysis of the relationship between economic and demographic changes and accessibility from the end of the 18th century to the present day; 3) to represent and analyse on a very fine scale some key demographic and socio-economic phenomena. Our method for reconstructing historic administrative boundaries combines the study of historical and cartographic source…
International validation of the revised European Organisation for Research and treatment of cancer head and neck cancer module, the EORTC QLQ-HN43
2019
Background: We validated the new European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Head and Neck Module (EORTC QLQ-HN43). Methods: We enrolled 812 patients with head and neck cancer from 18 countries. Group 1 completed the questionnaire before therapy, and 3 and 6 months later. In group 2 (survivors), we determined test–retest reliability using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC). Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach's Alpha, the scale structure with confirmatory factor analysis, and discriminant validity with known-group comparisons. Results: Cronbach's alpha was >0.70 in 10 of the 12 multi-item scales. All standardized factor loadings exceeded…
A GIS-Based Methodology for Evaluating the Increase in Multimodal Transport between Bicycle and Rail Transport Systems. A Case Study in Palermo
2021
Background: In a world where every municipality is pursuing the goals of more sustainable mobility, bicycles play a fundamental role in getting rid of private cars and travelling by an eco-friendly mode of transport. Additionally, private and shared bikes can be used as a feeder transit system, solving the problem of the first- and last-mile trips. Thanks to GIS (Geographic Information System) software, it is possible to evaluate the effectiveness of such a sustainable means of transport in future users’ modal choice. Methods: Running an accessibility analysis of cycling and rail transport services, the potential mobility demand attracted by these services and the possible multimodality bet…
Communicating Medical Information Online: The Case of Adolescent Health Websites
2020
In recent times, our understanding and practice of public health has been increasingly guided by technological advances generally based on governmental decisions (Green et al. 2009). Not only does the growth of a public system for protecting health hinge upon scientific discovery and dissemination of medical knowledge, but also the World Wide Web has considerably changed the health communication environment. This paper considers the online health information addressed to adolescents. Given that young people have difficulty accessing traditional health services, in theory, the Internet might offer them a more confidential and convenient access to an unprecedented level of information about a…
Enhanced prediction of multipaction breakdown in passive waveguide components including space charge effects
2008
An enhanced prediction software tool of multipaction breakdown effect in passive waveguide components is proposed in this work. For such purpose, the space charge field effects are included employing a particle-in-cell code and finite differences in time domain integration techniques. As a result, the novel prediction tool models all the physical effects derived from multipactor such as reflected power, noise and/or harmonics, thus improving the accuracy of the threshold predictions and providing very valuable additional information of the phenomena. Such tool has been integrated within a full-wave modal analysis software for complex waveguide geometries (FEST3D), and the multipactor effect…
Comparison of canonical variate analysis and principal component analysis on 422 descriptive sensory studies
2015
International audience; Although Principal Component Analysis (PCA) of product mean scores is most often used to generate a product map from sensory profiling data, it does not take into account variance of product mean scores due to individual variability. Canonical Variate Analysis (CVA) of the product effect in the two-way (product and subject) multivariate ANOVA model is the natural extension of the classical univariate approach consisting of ANOVAs of every attribute. CVA generates successive components maximizing the ANOVA F-criterion. Thus, CVA is theoretically more adapted than PCA to represent sensory data. However, CVA requires a matrix inversion which can result in computing inst…
Archetypal analysis: contributions for estimating boundary cases in multivariate accommodation problem
2013
[EN] The use of archetypal analysis is proposed in order to determine a set of representative cases that entail a certain percentage of the population, in the accommodation problem. A well-known anthropometric database has been used in order to compare our methodology with the common used PCA-approach, showing the advantages of our methodology: the level of accommodation is reached unlike the PCA approach, no more adjustments are necessary, the user can decide the number of archetypes to consider or leave the selection by a criterion. Unlike PCA, the objective of the archetypal analysis is obtaining extreme individuals, so it is the appropriate statistical technique for solving this type of…

Protective Effects of Foam Rolling against Inflammation and Notexin Induced Muscle Damage in Rats
2019
It is known that high-intensity exercise can cause inflammation and damage in muscle tissue, and in recent years, physical therapists and fitness professionals have begun to use foam rolling as a recovery method to improve performance. Despite the lack of basic science studies to support or refute the efficacy of foam rolling, the technique is very widely used in the sports world. In this respect, we investigated whether foam rolling could attenuate muscle damage and inflammation. Female Wistar rats were assigned to control (C), foam rolling (FR), notexin without foam rolling (N) and notexin with foam rolling (NFR) groups. A 4.5 x 2 cm foam roller was used to massage their hind legs (two 60…
