Assessing reading and online research comprehension: Do difficulties in attention and executive function matter?

This study evaluated the relation between sixth graders' (N = 426) teacher-rated difficulties in attention and executive function (EF) and their comprehension skills. Reading comprehension was assessed with a multiple-choice task and online research and comprehension (ORC) with a problem-solving task. The analyses were controlled for gender, reading fluency and nonverbal reasoning. To investigate differences in students' performance between the tasks, comprehension skills in the multiple-choice task were also controlled for in the ORC task. There is a need for research on the effect of different types of model progressions and learner age on learning and engagement in inquiry-based science settings. This study builds on the Scientific Discovery as Dual Search model to introduce less specific implicit model progression and compares them to the traditional explicit model progression. Optical turbulence measurements and channel modeling of an indoor Free Space Optics link (Versione estesa)

In this work, we propose an indoor experimental set-up able to generate several optical turbulence conditions in a Free Space Optics link. Using this set-up, we prove the effectiveness of an irradiance time-series generator based on the Gamma-Gamma model and able to predict the irradiance fluctuations at the receiver, under both weak and moderate turbulence conditions.

Acs modeļa optisko aberāciju novērtējums

Bakalaura darbs ir uzrakstīts uz 36 lapaspusēm latviešu valodā. Tas satur 11 attēlus, 1 tabula, 17 literatūras avotus. Darba mērķis: Novērtēt aberāciju daudzumu acs modelī ar šķidru polimēra lēcu un salīdzināt ar lielas emetropas populācijas mērijumiem. Darba uzdevumi: Izveidot Shaka hartmana aborametra shēmu; veikt aberāciju simulāciju MATLAB vidē; salīdzināt acs modeļa aberācijas ar lielas populācijas aberāciju apjomu. Metode: Acs modelim tika mērīts aberāciju apjoms. Tika simulēti attēli, kuriem noteiktas kontrasta līknes. Dati tika apkopoti un salīdzināti ar pētījumiem par aberāciju apjomu lielā populācijā.
