Electrophysiological evidence for change detection in speech sound patterns by anesthetized rats

Human infants are able to detect changes in grammatical rules in a speech sound stream. Here, we tested whether rats have a comparable ability by using an electrophysiological measure that has been shown to reflect higher order auditory cognition even before it becomes manifested in behavioral level. Urethane-anesthetized rats were presented with a stream of sequences consisting of three pseudowords carried out at a fast pace. Mapping CAP-A satellite DNAs by FISH in Sapajus cay paraguay and S. macrocephalus (Platyrrhini, Primates)

Satellite DNAs such as Cap-A sequences are potentially informative taxonomic and phylogenetic markers useful for characterizing primate genomes. They have also been used as cytogenetic markers facilitating species identification in many taxa. The aim of this work is to map Cap-A sequences by FISH (fluorescent in situ hybridization) on two Platyrrhini (Primates) species genomes, Sapajus cay paraguay and S. macrocephalus, in order to study their distribution pattern on chromosomes. Exploring Evolution in Ceboidea (Platyrrhini, Primates) by Williams-Beuren Probe (HSA 7q11.23) Chromosome Mapping

The ancestral platyrrhine karyotype was characterised by a syntenic association of human 5 and a small segment of human 7 orthologues. This large syntenic association has undergone numerous rearrangements in various phylogenetic lines. We used a locus-specific molecular cytogenetic approach to study the chromosomal evolution of the human 7q11.23 orthologous sequences (William-Beuren syndrome, WS) in various Ceboidea (Platyrrhini) species. Older adults show elevated intermuscular coherence in eyes‐open standing but only young adults increase coherence in response to closing the eyes

New Findings: What is the central question of this study? Can a 14-week strength-training programme modify intermuscular coherence levels during bipedal standing tasks with eyes open and eyes closed and reduce age-related differences? What is the main finding and its importance? Older adults had more prominent common input over 4–14 Hz with eyes open, but during the eyes-closed task the young adults were able to further enhance their common input at 6–36 Hz. Recently, numerous cases of monkeypox were reported from several non-endemic countries in Europe, North America, and Oceania, suggesting an unusual and alarming public health issue, particularly considering that the disease is not directly related to human or animal travels. Attention is currently being drawn to this phenomenon since more than 70% of the global population is no longer vaccinated against smallpox. Indeed, the smallpox vaccination also confers some indirect degree of protection against other poxviruses, including monkeypox.
