Extremely Low Frequency Magnetic Fields Do Not Affect LTP-Like Plasticity in Healthy Humans.

2020

Introduction: Several studies explored, in vitro, the biological effects of extremely low-frequency magnetic fields (ELF-MFs) and reported the induction of functional changes in neuronal activity. In particular, ELF-MFs can influence synaptic plasticity both in-vitro and in animal models. Indeed, some studies reported an increase in long-term potentiation (LTP) whereas others suggested its reduction. However, no specific study has investigated such effect in humans. Aims: To evaluate whether ELF-MFs affect the propensity of the human cortex to undergo LTP-like plasticity. Methods: We designed a randomized, single-blind, sham-controlled, cross-over study on 10 healthy subjects. Cortical plas…

Effetti di un programma di esercizio fisico sul grado di reattività bronchiale negli asmatici

2012

EFFETTI DI UN PROGRAMMA DI ESERCIZIO FISICO SUL GRADO DI REATTIVITÀ BRONCHIALE NEGLI ASMATICI N. Scichilone 1, G. Morici 2, D. Zangla 3, R. Arrigo 1, I. Cardillo 1, V. Bellia 1, M.R. MATERIALI E METODI: Nove as…

Vecākā pirmsskolas vecuma bērnu rakstīšanas elementu apguve zīmēšanā

2021

Computer Simulation for the Study of CNC Feed Drives Dynamic Behavior and Accuracy

2007

In the application of CNC feed drives it is desirable to predict the servo performance. By using computer simulation techniques it is possible to construct an accurate model of the servo drive. This simulation procedure makes it possible to anticipate machine design problems and correct them. This paper deals with a model of a feed drive, which consists of a motion control system driven by a DC motor. Both position and velocity feedback loops are present in the structure of the system. By means of MATLAB & Simulink software, simulation diagrams were built in order to test the behaviour of the system. Experimental data are also presented in order to confirm the accuracy of the theoretical mo…

RECRUITMENT OF BICEPS FEMORIS MUSCLE REGIONS AT DIFFERENT RUNNING SPEEDS

2017

Background The majority of hamstring strain injuries (HSIs) occur in the late swing phase of high-speed running when hamstrings work eccentrically. The proximal region of the biceps femoris (BF) seems to be the most common site of injury. Elongation of the fascicles in eccentric contractions is higher in the proximal region compared to the distal region of BF, but the neural background to this phenomenon is not clear. Objective To examine the region-specificity of BF muscle activity at different running speeds. Design Observational study. Running speeds were randomized. Setting Laboratory, amateur level. Participants Football players without acute injury/illness, and without HSI history wer…

Proximal Tibiofibular Joint Reconstruction With Autogenous Semitendinosus Tendon Graft

2013

Isolated and chronic anterolateral instability of the proximal tibiofibular joint (TFJ) is an uncommon condition, generally linked to an unrecognized or unhealed dislocation of the TFJ. Clinically, abnormal anterior movement of the head of the fibula is detected. In acute injuries conservative management should be preferred, whereas surgical treatment have been advocated in patients with chronic TFJ instability. Authors describe a new surgical reconstruction technique for chronic instability of the proximal TFJ using an autogenous semitendinosus tendon. The graft is passed through fibular and tibia tunnels and fixed with 2 interference screws. The tibial tunnel is reamed from the posterolat…

Sensorless control of permanent magnet synchronous motors for wide speed range applications

2006

This paper deals with sensorless control of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (IPMS) based on the estimation of speed and rotor angular position. The above estimate is based on the injection of high frequency stator currents able to generate a signal similar to that generated by a resolver connected to the axis of the motor. A new digital algorithm has been designed to demodulate the above signal whose implementation can be carried out on the same DSP that processes the control algorithm. In this paper a new scheme of speed and angular position estimator is proposed and justified on the theoretic point of view. The experimental results here shown validate the effectiveness of the…

Lesions to the posterior insular cortex cause dysarthria

2011

Background:  Up to now, there are few systematic studies in a sufficient number of patients with lesions involving the insular cortex (IC) examining whether damage of the IC is directly related to dysarthria. Thus, this is the first study applying modern voxel-lesion behaviour mapping (VLBM) aimed to examine whether the IC is involved in dysarthria – and if so – which part of the IC is involved. Methods:  Twenty-five patients with acute stroke lesions affecting the IC and peri-insular region were investigated employing VLBM analysis. Results:  Present data indicated that dysarthria is associated with stroke lesions affecting the right- and left-sided posterior IC. Conclusions:  Owing to the…
