Organization of intensive cardiac care units in Europe: Results of a multinational survey

Background: The present survey aims to describe the intensive cardiac care unit organization and admission policies in Europe. Methods: A total of 228 hospitals (61% academic) from 27 countries participated in this survey. In addition to the organizational aspects of the intensive cardiac care units, including classification of the intensive cardiac care unit levels, data on the admission diagnoses were gathered from consecutive patients who were admitted during a two-day period. Vertical FDI Revisited

This study explores how relative skilled-wage premia affect FDI. Contrary to previous studies based on factor endowment differences, we find strong support for vertical FDI, in the sense that more FDI is conducted in countries where unskilled labor is relatively cheap. In addition, we find that relative skill-premia also affect FDI activities that have previously been associated with horizontal FDI, i.e. local affiliate sales. Consequently, the potential effects of changes in the relative wage costs on international production reallocation within MNEs are large. Effects of sanctions, moral beliefs, and neutralization on information security policy violations across cultures

Abstract A principal concern of organizations is the failure of employees to comply with information security policies (ISPs). Deterrence theory is one of the most frequently used theories for examining ISP violations, yet studies using this theory have produced mixed results. Past research has indicated that cultural differences may be one reason for these inconsistent findings and have hence called for cross-cultural research on deterrence in information security. To address this gap, we formulated a model including deterrence, moral beliefs, shame, and neutralization techniques and tested it with the employees from 48 countries working for a large multinational company.

The Role of Entrepreneurial and Networking Orientations in Developing Marketing Capabilities of Born Global Firms

The large multinational enterprises rely on their size and significant resources to develop marketing capabilities. On the other hand, little is known about how resource-constrained born global firms develop necessary marketing capabilities to operate in multiple international markets. This paper attempts to fill this gap conceptually by discussing relationships between entrepreneurial orientation, networking orientation, marketing capabilities, and performance in the context of born global firms. To fulfill this objective, research propositions are presented based on an extensive literature review. Preliminary conclusions and suggestions for further research are also provided.

Los emprendedores surgidos de las empresas multinacionales de inversión extranjera directa: un estudio exploratorio en Costa Rica

El presente trabajo busca evaluar la creación de empresas por parte de ex empleados de empresas multinacionales de inversión extranjera directa. En concreto, se busca dimensionar el fenómeno, caracterizarlo, así como valorar el desempeño de las empresas creadas. El estudio se hizo mediante un muestreo aleatorio simple con margen de error del 7% y nivel de confianza del 95%, sobre una base de datos de 11.120 ex empleados de empresas multinacionales en Costa Rica (n = 175).
