The contribution presented here is part of a work-in-progress project, which has as its focus the “extra-moenia” urban transformations suffered by the city of Palermo after World War II, with the aim of cataloging, reconstructing and restoring the remarkable heritage -lost in the years of the economic boom and building speculation- in three-dimensional virtual images. Dalla nascita della museologia moderna il museo è mutato progressivamente, seguendo le esigenze dei tempi con cui si è confrontato. E se l'arte storicamente prefigura mondi, ciò che avvenne a ridosso degli anni Sessanta con la progressiva fuoriscita dell'arte nello spazio pubblico, anticipa la crescente vocazione partecipativa e inclusiva che pare caratterizzare la tensione trasformativa del museo d'oggi. Un luogo che da spazio conservativo ed espositivo si va trasformando - in alcune significative esperienze - in uno spazio critico, luogo della creazione e dell'innovazione civica.

Museums are often hosted by heritage buildings, where the indoor thermal conditions are usually subjected to a free-floating regime, due to the difficulty of equipping them with HVAC systems that, generally, are highly impacting tools from a visual point of view. Experiences with CiceRobot, a Museum Guide Cognitive Robot

The paper describes CiceRobot, a robot based on a cognitive architecture for robot vision and action. The aim of the architecture is to integrate visual perception and actions with knowledge representation, in order to let the robot to generate a deep inner understanding of its environment. The principled integration of perception, action and of symbolic knowledge is based on the introduction of an intermediate representation based on Gardenfors conceptual spaces. The architecture has been tested on a RWI B21 autonomous robot on tasks related with guided tours in the Archaeological Museum of Agrigento. Experimental results are presented.

In this article the QRouteMe system is presented. QRouteMe is a multichannel information system built to ensure rich user experiences in exhibits and museums. The system starts from basic information about a particular exhibit or museum while delivering a wide user experience based on different distribution channels.
