: Towards Teaching music in French primary schools
2002
Towards Teaching music in French primary schools. This article describes and analyses how teachers in primary schools teach music. The survey concerned more than one thousand teachers and it shows on the one hand the conformity of the teachers'statements with the regulations from the Ministry of Education and on the other end, the large variety in the time that is devoted to musical activities. Amongst those singing is the most frequent and teachers themselves generally lead lessons. Besides, teaching practises are more intensive and varied in pre-schools than in primary schools and when teachers have a professionel training.
The reciprocal link between music and movement studied through music-induced movements
2014
Music and movement are inseparable. The movements that are spontaneously procuded when listening to music are thought to be related to the close relationship between the perceptual and motor system in listeners. This particular link is the main topic of this thesis. A first approach was focused on the impact of music-induced movements on music cognition. In two studies, we show that moving along to music neither enhances the retention of new musical pieces (Study 1) nor the retention of the contextual information related to their encoding (Study 2). These results suggest a shallow processing inherent to the expression of musical affordances required for the production of music-induced movem…

L’anxiété de performance dans l’enseignement musical. Une revue de littérature
2022
How might music teachers help their students cope with the anxiety-provoking aspects of public performance? This article aims to provide some elements to answer this question. It is important to consider that public performance is one of the main aspects of musical practice from the start of the learning process. Given the high prevalence of music performance anxiety—MPA among musicians of all levels and ages, the teacher has an important role. Based on a literature review, the sources of MPA are analyzed and, for each of them, strategies that could be used by a music teacher are indicated. Emphasis is placed on prevention and on the importance of raising music teachers’ awareness of MPA.

« Mouvement est nécessité » Pour une relation au monde du mouvement et de la musique
2021
Starting from a stationary state in order to feed a process, the idea of movement in music can affect both the sound material and the listening (the Hoerspiel...), both the view (musical theater) and the ancillary disciplines (dance or maping-video)... Based on examples taken in the 20th and 21st centuries (Debussy, Berg, Webern, Stravinsky, Stockhausen, Kagel, Ferrari, La Monte Young, Xenakis, Adams, De Chizy, De Mey, Trapani?), musicological study ultimately deduces that the metaphor of movement is for man an experience considered fundamental to his particular relationship to the world.
Du verbe instrumental dans la musique subsaharienne
2021
Sub-Saharan music results from the spoken language/instrumental language relation, directed by an oral culture. In this culture, these languages transmit ? beyond their singularities ? messages thanks to either a coded signal known by the linguistic community or previously defined among a group of individuals, or is used as a true meta-language copied on the articulated and usual language used every day. Here, an instrumental musical speech can then imitate and reproduce the tonal inflexions of the language to make its matter understandable. This fact is the natural result of a strong interaction and interrelation between the spoken language and the music as well as the conception that the …
