Dicationic organic salts: gelators for ionic liquids

Diimidazolium and dipyrrolidinium organic salts were tested for their ability to gel both organic solvents and ionic liquids. Organic salts containing 1-(1-imidazolylmethyl)-3,5-di-(3'-octylimidazolylmethyl)-benzene and 1-(N-pyrrolidylmethyl)-3,5-di-(N,N-octylpyrrolidylmethyl)-benzene cations were used. In addition to the simple bromide anion, also dianions having a naphthalene core such as 1,5- and 2,6-naphthalenedisulfonate and 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylate were taken into account. Gelation tests demonstrated that organic salts used were able to harden ionic liquids. Koronapandemia on vaikuttanut monella tavalla yhteiskuntien ja yksittäisten kansalaisten elämään kaikkialla maailmassa. Pandemian hillitsemiseksi asetetut tapaamis­ ja liikkumisrajoitukset nostivat keskusteluun ikääntyneiden ihmisten yksinäisyyden. Tässä kuvailevassa kirjallisuuskatsauksessa tarkastellaan 60 vuotta täyttäneiden kotona asuvien ihmisten yksinäisyyttä koronapandemian aikana. Aineiston muodostavat 22 kansainvälistä artikkelia, jotka valikoituivat järjestelmällisen kirjallisuushaun avulla neljästä tietokannasta. Jyväskylän yliopiston kuusijuhlassa 2017 oli Avoimen tiedon keskuksella vuorovastuu Tiernapoika-esityksestä. Itse esitys ulkoistettiin Mieskuoro Sirkkojen poikakuorolle, jota johtaa Agnes Lak Losonc. Avoimen tiedon keskus toimitti esitykselle tietopohjaisen taustamateriaalin.

Expanding Acutuncus : Phylogenetics and morphological analyses reveal a considerably wider distribution for this tardigrade genus

The tardigrade genus Acutuncus has been long thought to be an Antarctic endemism, well adapted to this harsh environment. The Antarctic endemicity of Acutuncus was recently dispelled with the description of Acutuncus mariae Zawierucha, 2020 found in the Svalbard archipelago. The integrated analyses on two newly found Acutuncus populations from UK and Italy, and a population of Acutuncus antarcticus found close to its type locality allowed us to expand the climatic and geographic range of the genus Acutuncus. A highly stereoselective procedure for the synthesis of spiro-polycyclic oxindoles bearing five contiguous stereogenic centers including two tetrasubstituted carbons has been developed. Under sequential organocatalysis performed by a pyrrolidine-based organocatalyst and DBU, a highly atom-economical Michael–domino Michael/aldol reaction sequence was optimized, yielding variously functionalized spiro-decalin oxindoles with excellent stereoselectivity (>99:1 dr, up to 92% ee). peerReviewed

The sidelining of gender equality in a corporatist and knowledge-oriented regime : The case of failed family leave reform in Finland

Reform of the family leave system has been on the Finnish political agenda for a long time but has proved to be a challenging task. The challenges relate to ideological differences between the political parties and to non-decision making in tripartite working groups, where the labour market parties participate in policy formulation. The article analyses the recent attempt to reform the Finnish family leave system under a right-conservative government (2015–2019) as an example of how diverging political ideologies and vested interests undermine adoption of government gender equality policy. Tarkastelemme suomalaisen opettajan osaamista suhteessa korona-ajan tuomiin uusiin opettajuuden haasteisiin. Opettajan työ on monipuolista osaamista edellyttävää asiantuntijatyötä. Opettajan keskeinen osaaminen on koottu seitsemän yliopiston yhteistyönä tutkimusperustaiseen Opettajan osaamisen karttaan. Siinä opettajan ammatillinen kehittyminen nähdään jatkumona opiskelijavalintavaiheesta koulutuksen kautta työelämään. Keväällä 2020 koronapandemia muutti opettajan työtä radikaalisti.
